Key Responsibilities
- Design & Structural Analysis: Lead the mechanical design and perform structural analysis of various gas turbine components, ensuring their integrity and performance.
- System Integration: Capture and integrate system requirements and engineering standards from customers into the component design process.
- Technical Substantiation: Support design decisions with data-driven validation, including hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Program Participation: Contribute to technical and program reviews, presenting insights effectively.
- Component Development: Develop components and modules considering cost, performance, service life, and system requirements.
- Tool Utilization: Employ CAD tools like Siemens NX, PLM tools such as Teamcenter, and analysis tools including ANSYS or Siemens Simcenter for design and analysis tasks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with internal and external engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and knowledge sharing.
- Engineering Problem Solving: Apply technical principles to address complex engineering challenges.
- Component Evaluation: Assess components for fit, form, function, and durability, aligning them with certified configurations.
🎓 Qualifications
- Experience: 1-4 years in mechanical design engineering of gas turbine components.
- Specialized Knowledge: Expertise in areas such as hot structures, turbine frames, combustors, exhausts, or compressor cases. Familiarity with design and manufacturing requirements, strength, fatigue, durability properties, installation, aircraft operation, certification requirements, materials, processes, part standards, production capabilities, limitations, and MRB procedures.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Siemens NX for mechanical design, Teamcenter for PLM, and experience with ANSYS (Classic or Workbench) or Siemens Simcenter for engineering analysis. Ability to interpret technical drawings with a solid understanding of GD&T.
- Soft Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship required. Must possess or be willing to obtain a DoD Secret/Collateral clearance.
- Transportation: Ability to travel to customer locations as needed.
- Work Schedule: Typically a 40-hour workweek, with core hours from 9 AM to 4 PM on-site.
- Travel: Occasional business travel to customer sites may be required.
