Propulsion Engineer
Quantum Space
Who We’re Looking For
Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast, iterate quickly, and deliver flight hardware.
We are seeking a Propulsion Engineer to contribute to the development of space-rated propellant tanks, propulsion components, and integrated propulsion systems. This role offers hands-on involvement across the full development lifecycle—from early design and analysis through build, test, and on-orbit operations.
Where You’ll Make an Impact
- Execute engineering tasks across the full product lifecycle, including design, analysis, build, test, and flight support.
- Support the development and delivery of propulsion hardware under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Apply sound engineering practices to solve propulsion challenges and meet technical and program requirements.
What It Takes
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience working with propulsion systems or closely related hardware.
- Demonstrated ownership of defined engineering tasks or subsystems.
- Familiarity with common engineering analysis tools and methods.
- Ability to work independently while effectively integrating with a larger team.
- Adaptability operating in an evolving development environment.
- Strong commitment to continuous learning and technical growth.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup or rapid development environment.
- Exposure to propulsion analysis using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, CFD, FEA, Surface Evolver, and GFSSP.
- Experience with CAD tools and hardware design.
- Programming experience in Java, Python, Julia, and/or C++.
- Familiarity with 5S (6S) and Lean Six Sigma principles.
What You’ll Get
- Ownership – Opportunities to take responsibility for meaningful engineering tasks and hardware.
- Innovation – Hands-on involvement in developing next-generation propulsion systems and spacecraft.
- Impact – See your work fly on unique, high-profile missions.
- Growth – A clear technical growth path within a fast-growing space company.
- Compensation – Competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, HSA, 401(k) matching, and equity participation.
