About us
Founded in 2017, Q-CTRL has grown to become the global leader in quantum control infrastructure software. As a product-led company, we bring together diverse teams like product, design, engineering and research (to name a few!) to help achieve our mission of making quantum technology useful. We believe that working in deep tech domains like quantum provides an opportunity to upskill whilst applying existing knowledge and practices to new markets.
As one of the fastest growing companies in the quantum sector, we’ve been busy!
- In October 2024, we announced our record breaking expansion of our Series B funding round to USD $113M, with $59M USD of new capital!
- Adding to our new global HQ in Sydney (Australia’s first fully dedicated commercial quantum tech site!), our US team took a similar path, moving into their own, Q-CTRL dedicated workspace, our Berlin team continues to grow and expand markets across the EU and we announced our expansion into the UK, recently opening up new offices in the Oxfordshire region off the back of our newly formed UK team.
- In November 2023, we announced an industry-first partnership with IBM Quantum Services, natively integrating our performance management software with all IBM quantum computers. Building off of this relationship, in September 2024 we started offering two services via IBM’s new Qiskit Functions Catalog as an inaugural partner.
- We continue to deliver real world outcomes across the quantum sectors, with our work with Australian Defence on software-ruggedized quantum sensing for navigation without GPS, as featured in the New York Times.
From educating the workforce on how quantum computing works, and building the next generation of quantum sensors, to delivering massive performance gains for end-users, it all starts with hiring the right talent. If you want to help us build the Quantum future, read on!
About the role
As our company grows, we have an emerging need within the People function to scale the services of our global business. This role is within our People Operations team and will work directly with the People Operations Manager.
The People Operations team works closely with the broader Operations, Talent and Finance functions, as well as People Managers and our employees. We are commercially minded, and aim to enhance efficiency with everything we do, making it easier for our people to focus on what they do best.
You will help to continually improve the overall people experience of approximately 140 employees in 4 different countries. You’ll be involved in executing facets of the employee lifecycle from onboarding to separation, which will help you build on your generalist HR skills in a highly dynamic environment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Drive the day-to-day cadence of the People Operations team. Own and continually evolve the global onboarding (from acceptance to first day) and voluntary offboarding process.
  • Provide support and guidance across the full employee lifecycle, and assist People Operations Manager with People related employee questions and continue to build out engaging tools to allow our staff to self-help.
  • Actively involved in managing staff performance, including owning the probation management process, and assisting People Operations Manager with performance management cases.
  • Own Learning & Development activities, and assist with coaching and upskilling of people managers and collating resources.
  • Own our Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and employee records.
  • Stay across employment legislation in the countries we operate, and assist to ensure people related processes are refined in line with changing laws.
  • Assist People Operations Manager with cyclical activities such as annual and mid year performance review, compensation review, compensation benchmarking, eNPS (annual employee engagement survey), etc.
  • Generate people metrics reporting, assisting to share actionable insights with managers.

Ideally you'll have:

  • 4+ years of progressive People experience.
  • Experience with performance management and employee relations.
  • Heavy commercial focus and a proven track record of developing and implementing People programs that support business objectives.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, and the ability to influence across all levels.
  • The ability to decipher between what staff want and need, and shape solutions and an approach that strikes the best balance.
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems and a passion for leveraging technology to improve people operations.

It would be fantastic if you have these skills/experience but not essential:

  • Worked within a startup and/or scale-up business environment within the technology sector.
  • Prior experience working with staff in multiple countries.
