Founded in 2017, Q-CTRL has grown to become the global leader in quantum control infrastructure software. - In October 2024, we announced our record breaking expansion of our Series B funding round to USD $113M, with $59M USD of new capital!
- Adding to our new global HQ in Sydney (Australia’s first fully dedicated commercial quantum tech site!), our US team took a similar path, moving into their own, Q-CTRL dedicated workspace, our Berlin team continues to grow and expand markets across the EU and we announced our expansion into the UK, recently opening up new offices in the Oxfordshire region off the back of our newly formed UK team.
- In November 2023, we announced an industry-first partnership with IBM Quantum Services, natively integrating our performance management software with all IBM quantum computers. Building off of this relationship, in September 2024 we started offering two services via IBM’s new Qiskit Functions Catalog as an inaugural partner.
- We continue to deliver real world outcomes across the quantum sectors, with our work with Australian Defence on software-ruggedized quantum sensing for navigation without GPS, as featured in the New York Times.

About the role
Reporting to the Head of Design, as a Senior Brand and Digital Designer, you'll work to redefine how we represent and communicate intricate concepts in one of the most impactful technologies of our time. Your responsibilities will encompass leading the conceptualization and execution of design solutions for complex quantum concepts.
This contribution will prove instrumental in propelling the evolution of our brand and establishing the benchmark for the emerging industry. You’ll be part of a pioneering design team, working closely with key stakeholders across product, engineering, technology, and marketing teams to deliver world-class product and brand experiences. Leverage your experience to actively promote a culture of design excellence, while contributing to the design process, and mentoring fellow designers.
What you'll be doing:
- Set the standard: Lead the conceptualization and execution of design solutions for complex quantum concepts, contributing to the evolution of our brand and setting the standard for the emerging industry.
- Drive creative vision: Use your design skills to overcome complex challenges, while uniting and inspiring collaborating teams around a shared direction.
- Elevate the ordinary: Develop compelling designs across brand, digital, web, and print, ensuring consistency and alignment with our brand values and identity.
- Collaborate at all levels: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, technology, and marketing, to ensure seamless integration of design principles into our brand, marketing and products.
- Own the concept: Oversee design projects, manage stakeholders, and solve problems efficiently to ensure seamless execution.
- Build systems: Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a cohesive visual language, focusing on brand expression, consistency, and efficiency in our design workflows.
- Advocate for quality: Champion a culture of design excellence, guiding fellow designers through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.
Ideally you'll have:
- 5+ years experience in brand and digital design.
- Proven experience as a Senior Designer/Art Director with a strong portfolio showcasing excellence in your craft.
- Expertise in translating abstract concepts into compelling design experiences across brand, digital, web, and print.A creative thinker with a systematic approach to problem-solving using the design process.
- Strong grasp of UX/UI principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with Webflow and a basic knowledge of HTML/CSS.
- Experience working with and maintaining Design Systems.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment with a focus on iterative design and rapid prototyping.A passion for mentoring and developing design talent, with a track record of fostering a collaborative and inclusive design culture.
