Safran Landing Systems are seeking a highly motivated and experienced engineer to lead and deliver strategic Direct Energy Deposition (DED) Additive Manufacturing (AM) projects across the LGI division. As the DED Project Manager, you will be accountable for defining and executing the DED technological roadmap — including managing project schedules, budgets, and stakeholder relationships — to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of key innovations.
A part of our Performance & Support team, the Direct Energy Deposition (DED) Project Manager can be based in either Gloucester (UK) or Velizy (France). This is an exciting opportunity and a brand new role in which we are seeking an experienced project manager to drive and lead multi-functional teams across and outside of the business. You'll work with diverse and innovative teams on interesting and sustainable projects, with investment being made throughout Safran, it's an exciting time to join our growing team!

Job Requirements
What do I need to succeed in the role?
· A strong interest in emerging technologies and innovation, with the ability to challenge established norms.
· Demonstrated ability in transverse and international team management.
· Excellent project management skills:
Development planning, Communication and governance rituals, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Risk analysis and mitigation strategies.
· A creative, persistent mindset with the determination to overcome technical and project challenges.
· Willingness to travel regularly to support project collaboration (international travel is required once a month, on average, although this may vary)
· Bachelor's Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
· Proven experience within additive manufacturing or aerospace landing gear.
· Fluent in French and English, both written and verbal, with the ability to present at senior levels.
· Experience working with universities, research institutions, and collaborative technology ecosystems.

What will I be doing?
You will work in close coordination with the Chief Engineer (CE), Program teams, and cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, finance, procurement, and R&T to drive additive manufacturing maturity and integration.
Responsibilities will include;
· Lead execution of current and future DED projects.
· Flow down the DED project vision to key functions through roadmaps, gate reviews, and technology milestones.
· Establish and prioritise the DED R&T project budget in collaboration with the CE and Program Manager.
· Ensure adherence to Safran's R&T processes for Technology Readiness Level (TRL) maturity assessments.
· Support technical surveillance and Intellectual Property (IP) development activities.
· Identify and initiate new DED R&T projects, including identifying opportunities for external financial support (e.g., government funding).
· Promote synergies within Safran, especially with the Safran Additive Manufacturing Centre (SAMC).
· Develop and maintain strong partnerships with academic institutions, research centres, and Safran group stakeholders.
· Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure collaboration with Program, Chief Engineers, Methods, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Finance.
· Act on behalf of the CE to represent the DED program in internal and external reviews, including technical oversight and reporting.
