Job Description
Safran Electronics & Defense is looking for a motivated and talented GNSS Validation Engineer to join the GNSS Engineering Team in Nantes. In this role, you will contribute to the testing and evaluation of the performance of our Safran GNSS Simulator Products by developing signal processing tools, validating RF systems, and supporting system-level testing and calibration.
You will work closely with the System Engineering team to support validation campaigns such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Customer Acceptance Tests (CAT), and internal calibration procedures. This role is focused on signal-level validation, SDR testing, and cross-functional collaboration between the GNSS and System Engineering teams and other teams as well.
The position may require occasional business trips for system validation, testing, or customer support activities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (graduate degree is a plus)
- Strong knowledge of signal processing, RF testing and validation, and digital signal processing
- Experience with GNSS receiver data, signal correlation techniques, and understanding of GNSS ICDs (e.g., GPS, Galileo, BeiDou)
- Hands-on experience with SDRs and lab instruments such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, GNSS receivers, and network analyzers
- Programming or scripting skills (Python, MATLAB, or similar) are a strong asset
- GNSS background is a plus, but not mandatory
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills in French and English
- Willingness to travel occasionally for business trips
But what else? (advantages, specific features, etc.)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop signal processing tools and algorithms for RF validation and system calibration
- Analyze raw GNSS signal data, perform signal correlation analysis to extract timing and quality metrics, and support validation tasks using ICD specifications and GNSS receiver outputs
- Analyze GNSS signal quality and support testing of advanced simulation features (e.g., spoofing, jamming, multi-constellation)
- Evaluate and test new Software Defined Radios (SDRs) used for GNSS simulation platforms
- Perform RF signal measurements using lab equipment such as GNSS receivers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers
- Automate test and calibration procedures to improve efficiency and consistency
- Support validation campaigns including FAT, CAT, and internal testing
- Document test plans, tools, procedures, and validation results
- Collaborate with the GNSS Engineering Team and System Engineering Team to troubleshoot RF and signal-related issues, support technical needs, and help achieve common project objectives
