Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Assembles airline seats partially or completely, working at bench or on shop floor by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English.
2. Must be able to read drawings.
3. Using basic hand tools and measuring instruments fasten parts together.
4. Must know where to find WPS & QAP's on computer and be able to check for drawing rev's.
5. Must be able to perform other duties as required.
6. Must have basic problem solving skills.

Employee is expected to follow all safety regulations, keep work area in a clean and orderly condition, and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for the assigned work area(s). Performs safety related duties as assigned.

DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:
1. Employee is responsible for determining if she/he has adequate information and materials to complete tasks as directed.
2. Selection of methods and sequences within limits of the specific jobs assigned.
3. Determines if in-coming and out-going parts are made to specifications.

WHEN TO REFER TO SUPERVISOR:
1. Problems with equipment or machinery.
2. Quality problems.
3. Conflicting priorities.
4. Incorrect documentation.
5. Training issues.

QUALIFICATIONS
o High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
o One to three years of related experience preferred – equivalent education and background may be substituted for experience in some areas.
o Requires a thorough understanding of shop practices and procedures.
o Technical Skills: Understanding of shop practices, ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams, and perform mathematical calculations with various units and concepts.
o Certifications: Must obtain and maintain necessary certifications and licenses.

Job Requirements

In order to hold the lead position, an employee must have a minimum of 5 years seniority in the bargaining unit and must have worked in one of the classifications they are seeking to lead for a minimum of 2 years. Should no potential candidate meet these requirements, employees with less than 5 years seniority may be considered if they can demonstrate 5 or more years' comparable experience in a lead or leadership role and have worked in one of the classifications they are seeking to lead for a minimum of 2 years.

In the event candidates meet the above requirements, but are found not qualified by the selection committee, the Company may accept applications from employees who have at least 3 years seniority and must have worked in one of the classifications they are seeking to lead for a minimum of 1 year.

When the Company selects an employee for promotion to lead, preference will be given to the employee with the greatest seniority, where ability, training, job skills, and efficiency are substantially equal. The word "ability" shall be interpreted to include factors of ability to lead, direct, and train the employees under the direction of such leads.

Upon request by the Union, the Company will furnish the Business Representative of the Union, a listing of those unit employees who hold the lead position. Said Union request may occur as often as monthly.

Leads will perform duties of their current classification. In addition, they will train employees, ensure team members have the proper parts and tools to perform work, and communicate daily priority of work assignments to be completed (taking into account available manpower). Leads will not have the responsibility nor authority to hire, fire, discipline, promote or demote, or monitor for the purpose of discipline, any employee.
