Bonding Process Engineer M/F
Job Description
• Perform technical analysis on materials for the Bonding process that demonstrates production constraints and recognize opportunities
• Evaluate the current state of industrial capacity and capability relative to material requirements & propose changes to program plans to ensure that production cost, quality and delivery objectives can be met.
• Work with manufacturing leaders to established process documents and using materials for the Bonding process specification.
• Create and update materials and process standards/specifications to support engineering and manufacturing practices, including establishing certification and recertification criteria
• Innovate and evaluate new material for use in the Bonding process
• Review, approve and document usage of material specification, cabin and industrial standards for the Bonding process .
• Implement best practices related to the Bonding process ; ensure standardization, and develop related documentation and training
• Travel to other Safran sites with similar processes to learn, document, and deploy best practices internally
• Develop and implement next generation processes, prepare advance technology, and transition from manual processes towards automation when applicable
• Measure performance across products/programs in these processes and work with Production staff to address and solve problems
• Train Production staff on new the Bonding process
• Serve as the Safran Cabin site expert for the Bonding process , with the willingness to join the Safran Expert network as an expert
• Act as the focal for Industrialization on the Bonding process as required during the development of our products ensuring that the best practices, materials, and processes are used in our designs
• Champion and implement Lean principles to improve process performance and capability
• Lead and participate in Kaizen and workshop events to develop improvement plans
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks and possible failures within the Bonding process
• Process Development: Conduct tests, trials, and analysis to substantiate the performance and reliability of the bonding process, including bond strength, durability, and environmental resistance. Document the results and create technical reports.
• Ergonomics: Consider ergonomic factors in the design and implementation of bonding processes to ensure operator comfort, safety, and efficiency.
• Bonding Compound Selection: Collaborate with material specialists and suppliers to select appropriate bonding compounds, adhesives, or sealants based on performance requirements, material compatibility, and regulatory compliance.
• Standardization: Develop and maintain standardized procedures, work instructions, and specifications for the application of bonding compounds, ensuring consistency and reliability across production.

Complementary Description
Reporting to Industrialization leadership, as part of the Process Engineering branch, and working with the Engineering and Operations teams, the Bonding Process Specialist focuses on the assembly and integration of composite structures using chemical or mechanical means. They will lead the standardization and optimization of this process across Safran Cabin site. This position will help ensure best practices implementation in these production processes. They will monitor this processes' performance and help develop next generation processes, including automation
Job Requirements
Education: BS in Industrial, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
Experience: Minimum 7 years' experience with composites, the Bonding process
Computer Skills: Basic knowledge Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Other Skills:
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to establish collaborative relationships to achieve objectives
• Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with limited direction; ability to work within and lead in a team oriented environment
• Excellent attention to detail
• Project management experience
• Experience in manufacturing process set-up or adaptation
• Experience in problem solving and risk management
Additional Preferred Qualifications/Skills: (not required)
• MS degree in Materials or Industrial Processes
• Structured problem solving (QRQC, 8D, etc.)
• Lean Sigma (DMAIC)
• Experience with Industrialization processes, PFMEA or DFMEA, and Continuous Improvement Tools
