In the role of Director – Purchasing & Supply Chain, India, you will be responsible for identifying and developing a competitive supplier panel in India. The objective is to achieve Safran's deep localization targets in India, boost local suppliers development and production capabilities, and support capacity needs along with components exports to affiliate markets. This role involves strategic sourcing, fostering supplier relationships, negotiating partnerships e.g. in additive manufacturing, and ensuring compliance with the group's process and quality standards. The director will conduct market intelligence and monitor supplier's performance to optimize capacities, competitiveness and maintain a resilient supply chain. Additionally, the position requires strong collaboration with internal stakeholders in Purchasing, Engineering, Supply Chain and Manufacturing to align Indian purchasing / procurement strategies with the group's strategic objectives. Strong negotiation skills, an extended knowledge of the Indian Aerospace and Defense supplier base and a proactive approach to supplier localization are essential for success in this role.

MORE DETAILS:

PURCHASING/SUPPLY CHAIN: Develop an optimized local supplier panel, manage supplier relationships, conduct RFIs/RFQs, negotiate contracts, ensure timely capacity ramp-up, support industrialization processes for new parts, and cost-reduction roadmaps under Safran companies' delegation, while guaranteeing compliance with Safran's standards, industry and regulatory requirements. You will be leading a team of 10 skilled team members and collaborate with engineering, production, supply chain and quality assurance teams to support the company's operational goals. Overall, you will be responsible for overseeing all procurement activities to ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality materials, components, and services required for our aircraft and defense manufacturing and maintenance activities.

NEW PROGRAM INDUSTRIALIZATION (NPI): Support and manage the industrialization plan for new parts or programs. In collaboration with suppliers, define the Industrial Flow Chart for new products and oversee supplier adherence to the industrialisation plan. Mitigate potential supply chain risks that may delay the NPI phase. Support timely completion of the industrial validation process. Continuously assess production ramp-up readiness and lead production rate reviews as required.

SUPPLIER QUALITY ASSURANCE (SQA): Support and ensure that Safran suppliers comply with its quality and regulatory requirements, with a particular focus on FMEA and industrial validation process. Guarantee the implementation of QRQC at every supplier, identify quality risks and lead action plans to mitigate risks. Support root cause analysis and monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive actions using 8D analysis.

Complementary Description

SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT (SD): Perform supplier audits and deploy Lean-Sigma actions, to improve our supply chain competitiveness.

SUPPLIER PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT(SPM): Monitor and pilot the On Time Delivery (OTD) and On Time Quality (OQD) of suppliers you will be in charge of from start of production to the end of contract. Conduct industrial assessments, deploy Safran Group's Baselines, advice and monitor improvement plans at the suppliers, support them increasing their industrial maturity level.

SUPPLY CHAIN: Develop a logistics master plan and lead continuous logistics optimization initiatives to support both, reducing Indian Supply Chain environmental impact and improving cost competitiveness.

DECARBONISATIONn: Deploy Safran's decarbonisation strategy in India and contribute to the reduction of Global Carbon Emission within the Indian Supply Chain.

Job Requirements

- 15+ years' experience in Purchasing, Procurement
- 8+ years' experience in a management position; multicultural environment preferred
- Extended knowledge of the Indian Aerospace and Defense supplier base
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Autonomous, rigorous, team leader and result oriented mind-set
