Quality Assurance Specialist-Supplier
Job Description
Responsible for the implementation and administration of the incoming inspection program as it relates to purchased items as defined by the quality management system. In addition, works directly with suppliers and purchasing to resolve quality issues, administration of supplier corrective action request, supports manufacturing investigations for component failures and produces monthly supplier measure of performance reports. Works directly with Program Managers and Planning to determine the impact of supplier non-conformances or escapes and with the Senior Manager to define supplier approval methods, audit frequency, and surveillance requirements.
Complementary Description
RESPONSIBILITIES: Identification of inspection criteria for purchased items. Evaluation, approval and audit of suppliers. Produce and maintain approved supplier directory and supplier quality requirements manual. Monitor supplier quality performance on a monthly basis. Review and approve purchase orders and part history cards. Assists and/or leads failure investigations for product returns or in-house failures (8D, engineering investigation) and assist/product associated reports. Non-conformance disposition and participation/approval of MRB decision. Lead customer corrective action boards. Coordinate FAI's on new or revised products. Participate in evaluating and providing disposition of supplier concessions. Acceptance and release of product in accordance with customer regulatory and internal requirements. Customer delegations for acceptance and release of product. Regulatory requirements for new and repaired product. Participate in the evaluation/approval of substitute/alternate components. Participate in production readiness review meetings. Create/review internal quality procedures and work instructions. Other duties as assigned/required.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: Degree or Diploma in an electrical or mechanical engineering field or equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum of three years' experience with comprehensive quality management systems preferably AS9100. Certified quality auditor.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements is an asset, preferably Canadian Aviation Regulations. Experience in an electronics manufacturing/assembly environment, preferably IPC-A-610 Class 3. Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail. Excellent analytical, strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively handle conflicting priorities with limited supervision. REQUIRED SKILLS: Interpretation of blueprints/drawings. Root cause and corrective action practices. Diagnostic information gathering. Analytical thinking. Results driven. Excellent communications skills – verbal, written and comprehension. Solid knowledge of quality assurance and regulatory requirements. Customer focus and attention to detail. Familiarity with electronics assembly techniques. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Effective and professional team player, with interpersonal awareness. Able to effectively manage multiple tasks and timelines. Highly adaptable to a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
