We're looking for a Senior Financial Controller to join our growing Finance team and unravel the challenges of climate change together. If our mission is aligned with your values and personal goals, we want to get to know you!

Your responsibilities

At Plan A, you'll be working with hundreds of companies to successfully manage their net zero journey and ESG reporting. Having recently set solid foundations by insourcing the accounting function, the Finance team is ready to move on to the next step in building out its controlling function and professionalising its internal business partnering practices. We are looking for someone to conduct:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with German accounting standards (HGB).
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Monitor and analyze actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and proposing corrective actions.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, including profitability analysis, cost analysis, and trend analysis, to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Financial Strategy: Assisting the CFO and Head of Finance in creating the financial strategy of the business.
  • Cash Flow Management: Manage and forecast cash flows to ensure adequate liquidity for day-to-day operations and capital investments.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with German tax regulations, prepare and file tax returns, and manage relationships with external tax advisors.
  • Cost Controls: Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Audit Coordination: Coordinate and manage annual financial audits, liaising with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support.
  • Compliance: Stay current with German financial regulations and accounting standards, ensuring the company's adherence to all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Financial Systems: Continuously improve and optimize financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing financial guidance and support on various projects and initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field;
  • ACCA, CIMA, CPA or other relevant qualification is a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial control, accounting, or finance management.
  • Strong knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and tax regulations, IFRS is a big plus.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Google Sheets, Excel, ERP systems such as NetSuite, Datev).
  • Experience with expense management platforms such as Payhawk, Spendesk
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
