Role Description:
Join Pixxel's Cloud team as a DevOps Engineer where you'll be instrumental in building and maintaining the foundational infrastructure that powers our Earth Observation platform. You'll work on scalable cloud infrastructure, implement robust CI/CD pipelines, and develop platform services that enable our engineering teams to deliver world-class space technology solutions efficiently and securely.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters for container orchestration and microservices deployment
Administer and optimize PostgreSQL databases for application data storage and performance
Design and manage S3-based solutions for long-term data storage, backup, and archival strategies
Implement and maintain Apache Kafka clusters for real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures
Develop and maintain customer authentication and authorization platforms with integrated billing, invoicing, and subscription management systems
Manage secret management infrastructure using HashiCorp Vault to ensure secure handling of sensitive data
Design and implement observability solutions using Prometheus, Nagios, and other monitoring tools to ensure system reliability
Build and maintain configuration management systems and automated deployment processes
Develop platform services and frameworks that enable engineering teams to self-serve infrastructure needs
Participate actively in incident response, troubleshooting, and system reliability improvements
Collaborate with product management and development teams to identify infrastructure requirements and optimize system performance
Write high-quality, extensible, and scalable code primarily in Go, with some Python for automation and tooling and IaC using Terraform.
Desirable Skills & Certifications:
Core Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Go programming language with experience building scalable backend services
Strong experience with Python for automation, scripting, and tooling
Expertise in PostgreSQL database administration, optimization, and management
Expertise in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code implementation and management
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and cluster management
Experience with Apache Kafka for event streaming and real-time data processing
Proficiency with HashiCorp Vault for secrets management and security automation
Cloud & Infrastructure:
Deep knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, EKS, etc.)
Extensive experience with S3 for long-term data storage, backup strategies, and data lifecycle management
Container technologies including Docker and container orchestration
Unix/Linux system administration and networking concepts
DevOps & Platform Engineering:
Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
Monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Mimir, Loki)
Configuration management tools (Ansible)
Database administration experience with PostgreSQL including performance tuning, backup/recovery, and scaling strategies
CI/CD pipeline design and implementation (GitHub Actions)
Experience building authentication/authorization systems and billing platforms

Pixxel is a space data company and spacecraft manufacturer redefining Earth observation with hyperspectral imaging.
