Job Summary:

As the Director of Production at Phase Four, you will be the cornerstone of critical Production and Manufacturing Operations, quality control, and oversee the expansion of enterprise resource planning. Your leadership and vision will be pivotal in shaping processes and teams that manufacture and deliver our products, and will stand as a critical role in the company's growth and business development. This role requires candidate to be on-site at our Hawthorne, CA, location.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead the Production, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, IT/ERP, Facility and safety teams to support a rapidly scaling business operation.
  • Lead the production, manufacturing, supply chain and quality team to scale the company’s ability to deliver a variety of space propulsion systems, closely hewing to cost and timelines. This may likely include an expansion into additional facilities.
  • Build out our critical path for Production as we rapidly scale our 2025 production and development.
  • Oversee enterprise resource planning and safety programs, ensuring those systems are seamlessly integrated with operations and finance functions within the company.
  • Continue to build current company supply chain processes; enhance new supplier quality checks and on-boarding procedures and modify our existing suppliers/vendors to meet US national security requirements.
  • Implement policies and initiatives that support the scaling nature of our business, including but not limited to team structures, compliance, and deliverable guidelines that promote lean supply chain costs.
  • Oversee and enhance crucial company policies and products such as labor tracking and allocation, ERP onboarding, and key performance indicators.
  • Ensure the company is following all current safety, quality, and federal, state and local compliance requirements; assist in the development and standup of policies surrounding these measures at a company level. Cross-train additional team members as needed.
  • Integrate operations and other activities with Program Manager(s) and Engineering team(s) to ensure production, delivery goals, and timelines are met, and communicate changes or updates to all appropriate stakeholders.
  • Integrate operations with the Finance team to ensure financial metrics of Production and Manufacturing operations deliverables stay within scoped forecast and department budgets, as well as develop system(s) to accurately forecast costing within each department.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to include providing detailed briefings, tours of the Company’s facilities, and participate in sponsored Industry Days and investor meetings when applicable.
  • Collaborate with People team to assist with training and mentoring employees, as well as identify hiring needs within the Production and Manufacturing teams.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications / Skills:

  • At least 10 years of experience in the Aerospace industry, the majority of which have been in management level positions.
  • Experience building out production and manufacturing lines.
  • Strong leadership skills, previous experience managing employees at all levels of an organization. Comfortable and excited by the balance between ‘out-and-up’ and ‘down-and-in’ leadership.
  • Ability to be on-site at our facility located in Hawthorne, CA full time.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills:

  • At least 7 years of Production or Manufacturing Managerial roles.
  • Previous experience with Federal Government Sales and/or Systems.
  • Machine shop management experience
  • Previous experience with AS9100.
  • Previous experience onboarding complex ERP systems (Deltek preferable).
  • Previous experience managing an MES system.

Salary Range:

  • $170,000.00-190,000.00 Annually

We understand that interviewing is an art that takes time on both sides of the spectrum. Phase Four's interview process is as follows:

  1. Phone Interview with our Recruiting Team - 15-30 minutes - Where we learn about you, your experience, and what you're looking for in a new role, as well as give you a chance to learn about us, the role, and any questions you may have. If progressing to next step;
  2. Video Interview with the Hiring Manager - 30 minutes - This interview reviews the technical aspects of the role as well as your technical background. This is a great time for both you and the hiring manager to get more in depth about the expectations and technical mindset needed for the role. If progressing to next step;
  3. In-Person Interview - 90-120 minutes - Join us for an in-person interview at our office. During this time, you'll get to meet our team, tour our facility, and see what we do at Phase Four! If progressing to next step;
