About Pangea Propulsion:

We are a company dedicated to developing advanced propulsion systems for the space industry based on three key principles: high efficiency, sustainability, and reusability. We are revolutionizing the space industry with groundbreaking innovations that allow us to offer the best performance to cost propulsion systems. Our goal is to be the propulsion provider for the next generation of spacecraft, which are essential to meet the demands and compete in the booming space market of the next decade. We are a passionate, multicultural, and multidisciplinary team pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space propulsion technology. We have already made history by successfully testing the world's first 3D printed Methalox Aerospike engine, marking a significant milestone for the space industry.

We are looking for talented professionals to join our international teams in Barcelona and Toulouse. We want to be a key player in improving diversity in the Aerospace sector as, in Pangea, we believe that diversity (gender, age, race, sexual orientation, beliefs, disability, culture, etc.) is a key to success. Within Pangea, everyone can grow with the same opportunities. We encourage you to apply. Individually we are different, but together we are an amazing team!

We are looking for a Embedded Software Engineer in Barcelona.

About your job:

You will contribute to the development of the avionics subsystems and software for the company projects and products, both for in-space and launcher propulsion systems.

You will work with coding and implementing software onto various engine avionics modules, used to control the valves, actuators, and sensors of the engine, both for flight and for on-ground testing. You would also work with supporting the creation of software applications for real-time control and monitoring of the engines, and for simulation of the engine system to ensure proper operation.

You would be the main embedded software engineer at the company and would therefore need to independently solve any challenges, end-2-end, that might appear when creating the code and implementing it onto the hardware. This includes setup of coding environment, software architectural design, code creation, implementation, deployment, integration, verification, documentation, etc.

You would work together with the rest of the Avionics and Mechatronics team at the Systems Department. You would also be expected to interface with the avionics hardware suppliers to determine to e.g. interface your code with their firmware and to know what environment the code will be running on etc.

What you need to be successful:

  • Master’s degree in software engineering, similar or demonstrated equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the field of software and embedded systems.

  • Strong experience with coding and DevOps for real-time applications, preferably for aerospace or other safety-critical applications.

  • Strong experience with C programming, API programming, and memory handling.

  • Experience with embedded controllers and implementation of code on physical hardware, as well as programming languages for embedded systems (e.g., C, C++).

  • Fluency in English

Other useful skills:

  • Experience with software development for CubeSat applications.

  • Knowledge of processes for qualification of certified flight software.

  • Experience in avionics software verification process.

  • Experience in software qualification test campaigns.

  • Experience working with quality standards for space/flight software.

  • Knowledge of digital/serial communication buses and protocols (e.g, CAN, RS-232, RS-485, SPI, I2C, etc.).

  • Knowledge and understanding of working with FPGAs / SoC architectures

Not hitting every requirement? Research suggests that some people tend to hesitate when it comes to job applications if they don't meet all the desired qualifications. Here at Pangea Propulsion, we're committed to fostering a workplace that values diversity, inclusivity, and authenticity. So, if you're enthusiastic about this role but your prior experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification mentioned in the job description, we still strongly encourage you to apply. You might just be the ideal candidate for this position or other opportunities within our organization.

Pangea Propulsion is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We consider all applications without discrimination on any legally protected grounds. We welcome applications from persons with disabilities and we can provide reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process and in the workplace.
