Overland AI has secured funding from prominent defense tech investors including 8VC and Point 72, and built trusted partnerships with DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command. Backed by eight-figure contracts across the Department of Defense, we are strengthening national security by iterating closely with end users engaged in tactical operations.
Role Summary:
Overland AI is seeking a Field Marketing Manager to join our Communications & Marketing (C&M) team and help shape how we tell the story of mission-ready ground autonomy. The mandate is ownership of end-to-end planning, execution, and measurement of our external trade show presence and high-impact field marketing initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of communications and marketing, business development, and operations, and is critical to ensuring that every event, booth, and engagement is tightly aligned to specific end-user personas and business objectives.
You will be responsible not only for executing complex events, but also for building the operational rigor, internal coordination, and performance tracking required to scale Overland’s event strategy as the company grows. This is a highly cross-functional role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, values precision, and is comfortable turning logistics, data, and strategy into measurable outcomes.
This role reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Strategy, Planning, and Execution
- Own end-to-end planning and execution for external trade shows, conferences, and industry events, from early concept development through on-site delivery and post-event follow-up.
- Lead coordination of booth design, layout, messaging, and logistics to ensure a high-impact, mission-aligned presence at each event.
- Develop event plans tailored to specific end-user personas, in close partnership with internal teams, including Business Development.
- Manage timelines, budgets, vendors, shipping, installation, teardown, and on-site operations for events of varying scale and complexity.
Booth and Experience Design
- Liaise with Business Development to design booth setups and on-site experiences that support targeted conversations with priority customers, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ensure that booth design, collateral, demos, and staffing plans are optimized for the intended audience and use case at each event.
- Maintain standards and playbooks for booth assets, hardware displays, signage, and demo environments, while adapting execution to the unique constraints of each venue.
Internal Events and Hosted Engagements
- Plan and execute internal and hosted events, including partner meetings, investor briefings, demonstrations for demand generation, and media engagements.
- Coordinate logistics for site visits, private demos, and small-format events hosted by Overland, ensuring a polished and professional experience.
- Partner across Overland teams to align agendas, talking points, and follow-up materials.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the central point of coordination across internal teams for all event-related initiatives.
- Translate high-level objectives into executable plans and clearly communicate roles, timelines, and expectations across teams.
- Anticipate risks and dependencies and proactively resolve issues before they impact execution.
Marketing Operations, Data, and Measurement
- Track event-related marketing data and performance metrics, including lead generation, pipeline influence, meeting outcomes, and qualitative feedback.
- Partner with Business Development to define success metrics for each event and ensure consistent data capture.
- Build clear post-event reporting that communicates ROI, insights, and recommendations to leadership.
- Contribute to the development of scalable systems, processes, and tooling for event tracking and marketing operations.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in marketing operations, field marketing, events, or a related role, preferably in defense, aerospace, robotics, or deep tech environments.
- Demonstrated experience owning complex trade shows or large-scale events from planning through execution.
- Strong operational mindset with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience working closely with Business Development or Sales teams to support customer-facing initiatives.
- Comfort working with data, metrics, and reporting to evaluate marketing effectiveness and communicate results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical teams.
- High attention to detail and a bias toward execution, accountability, and follow-through.
- Experience supporting government, defense, or highly regulated industry events.
