Business Development Associate
Space is in our DNA. Orbital Sidekick (OSK) has a mission to leverage the untapped power of hyperspectral imagery (HSI) to address global environmental, health, and safety needs while helping companies reach their sustainability goals. Orbital Sidekick is establishing a space-based infrastructure of HSI sensors and analytic capabilities to enable real-time monitoring, detection, and risk management.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Development, you will be instrumental in translating industry pain points into product offerings from OSK. Your duties will include market research, developing business strategies and pitches, managing a variety of projects, and identifying new business opportunities. Working with customers, partners and our sales team you will explore new use cases in the natural resource sectors and more. Your insights will enable OSK to deliver the products that will be critical to our customers' improved performance and success.
What you'll do
- Educate potential customers and partners on how satellite-based hyperspectral imaging and analysis can provide new and unique insights to improve their operations. - Work closely with Sales and Marketing to develop goals and objectives initially focusing on the broadly defined natural resources sectors. - Develop market outreach strategies and tactics to achieve substantial market penetration and conversion. - Actively engage with the marketplace, including industry events, speaking engagements and customer visits / interaction. - Collaborate with sales functions on forecasting and planning; contribute analytical insight on market dynamics that will shape sales trends and performance metrics. - In collaboration with Marketing, and Sales teams, harmonize hyperspectral satellite monitoring services growth strategies with customer opportunities. - Actively support sector-specific fiscal year planning and go-to-market activities, pricing strategies, regional planning, and goals management. - Develop accurate reports and recommend revisions to existing reports or assist in the development of new reporting tools as needed. - Self-motivated, process-oriented, proactive team player with a bias for action and commitment to “making it happen.” - Willingness to travel as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- 3-5+ years of relevant work experience in business development or similar field preferred. - Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with various levels of management, staff, and clients. - Ability to work productively in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, and to balance the needs of our customers, our team, and our company.
Although not required, bonus points if you have...
- Experience in the commercial mining, agricultural or energy sectors. - Experience with government entities and/or regulatory bodies. - Experience in CRM tools such as Hubspot. - Complementary skills, qualifications and experiences, including interest and exposure to remote sensing, imagery and analytics, space operations, and user experience
