CONTROLLER
Orbion Space Technology is looking for a Controller to join the team! The Controller will develop accounting policies and oversee all financial procedures of our company. This position will constantly monitor the company’s financial status, review quarterly and annual budgets and manage accounting transactions.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Manage all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger reconciliation
- Lead month-end close process and ensure accurate reporting of financial results in accordance with US GAAP
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations while maintaining internal controls
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that support decision making
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency
- Utilize accounting and management software for effective financial management
- Prepare monthly detailed financial reports including financial KPIs for management review
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and journal entries
- Monitor all inventory control functions and spearhead physical inventory
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs from the bottom up and investigate discrepancies
- Support management team through meaningful analysis of costs and trends
- Develop and automate reporting functionalities and make recommendations for process improvements
- Demonstrate visible leadership, driving the needs of the department and Orbion
- Execute budget process and annual standard cost roll for all manufactured products
- Ensure all payments are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits)
- Maintain proper spend controls
- Coordinate and perform assets inventory at the frequency established by Orbion policy
- Create ad-hoc reports as needed or requested by management
- Perform internal audits and assist with external audits
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must meet definition of US Person
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing
- Command of US GAAP and IAS
- Solid foundation in general ledger accounting
- Experience analyzing variances in a manufacturing/cost accounting environment
- Thorough knowledge of Excel, accounting systems, ERPs, and payroll systems
- Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial principles, procedures, and legislation.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex topics to a non-financial audience
- Collaboration and teamwork oriented with excellent communication skills
- Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and ability to work with tight deadlines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA
- MAcc or MBA with concentration in finance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer; must be able to remain in a stationary position
- Ability to move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
