As a key member of our Software Engineering team, you will be responsible for architecting and developing distributed systems that power ORBCOMM’s high-volume, mission-critical solutions. This role offers the opportunity to design scalable and resilient microservices while leveraging state-of-the-art cloud platforms and containerization technologies.

What You’ll Do:
- Distributed Architecture Development:
- Build distributed systems designed for high-volume applications at scale.
- Design and develop microservices using gRPC, message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Scalable Solutions:
- Ensure systems are resilient, scalable, and high-performing.
- Identify and fix bottlenecks and issues that impact application efficiency and user experience.
- Cloud and Containerization Expertise:
- Leverage public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and observability tools like ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, and Open Tracing.
- Work with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Problem Solving and Debugging:
- Triage product or system issues, debug, and resolve them by analyzing their sources and impact.
- Best Practices:
- Drive adherence to software development best practices, product security, and coding standards.
Who You Are:
You’re a strategic thinker with a knack for operational excellence, ready to tackle multiple priorities with agility and grace. If you have:
- 13–15+ years of experience building IoT-based distributed architectures for high-volume systems.
- Hands-on experience with microservices, message brokers, and NoSQL databases.
- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expertise with observability stacks like ELK, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Proven ability to debug, analyze, and resolve complex system issues.
- Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect or similar credentials (e.g., GCP, Azure) is a plus.
