Working for Open Cosmos
Aim high, go beyond! At Open Cosmos we are solving the world’s biggest challenges from space, providing businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before - ready for the challenge? Then read on…
Working in the AIT Team
This team is the workshop for Open Cosmos satellite missions! We provide engineering support during the design phase then actually build and test the satellite - it doesn’t get much cooler than this!
What will you be doing?
Working hands-on with the hardware that goes to orbit is at the core of this AIT intern role — and you’ll be right in the middle of it.
We're looking for an intern to support the production of our flight harnesses — the electrical lifelines of our satellites. You’ll work closely with our AIT and harness engineering teams to build, inspect, and prepare harnesses for integration. From cutting and crimping to connector assembly and continuity testing, you'll help ensure our spacecraft are electrically sound and ready for the challenges of space.
What you need to be successful
- You’ll use your skills of mechanical and electrical assemblies, which might come from hobbies or university projects.
- You have fine motor skills which are the base to learn soldering, crimping and assembling delicate components.
- Your background in aerospace, mechanical, electrical or software engineering gives you the necessary understanding of what you’re doing and allows you to take on more challenging tasks.
- You communicate clearly and are comfortable asking questions when unsure.
- You’ll be pro-active and curious in your approach to work, always looking for more effective ways of doing things.
