The Role:
The Senior Accountant of Revenue Recognition plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant revenue accounting under ASC 606. This role is responsible for reviewing customer contracts, performing detailed revenue analyses, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, and supporting the monthly and quarterly close processes. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, experience with complex revenue arrangements, and the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced global environment.
The Senior Accountant will:
Revenue Accounting & Contract Review
- Analyze customer contracts and identify performance obligations, transaction price, variable consideration, and allocation methodologies in accordance with ASC 606.
- Perform revenue treatment assessments for new deals, renewals, amendments, and complex multi‑element arrangements.
- Prepare revenue recognition technical memoranda and documentation.
Month-End and Quarter-End Close
- •Prepare and review revenue-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
- •Validate revenue system outputs and revenue schedules for accuracy and completeness.
- •Investigate discrepancies and resolve variances between revenue sub-ledgers, billing, and the general ledger.
- •Support internal reporting of revenue results, trends, and fluctuations.
- •Identify opportunities to streamline processes, increase automation, and improve operational efficiency.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
- •Work closely with Sales and Legal teams to review terms before contract execution and guide deal structuring decisions.
- •Collaborate with FP&A to ensure accurate forecasting of revenue and deferred balances.
- •Provide global revenue accounting guidance to regional accounting teams to ensure consistency across geographies.
- •Partner with Product, Engineering, and Pricing teams to assess revenue implications of new offerings.
Internal Controls, SOX, and Audit Readiness
- •Perform and document key SOX controls related to revenue recognition.
- •Prepare audit documentation and respond to auditor inquiries external auditors during quarterly and annual audits.
- •Strengthen the company’s control environment by ensuring complete, accurate, and well‑supported revenue processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in revenue recognition, technical accounting, audit, or corporate accounting
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and related technical accounting requirements.
- Experience with complex, global revenue arrangements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and lead teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Detail oriented, good judgment and logical decision-making ability with a hands-on approach
Preferred
CPA
Experience in SaaS, technology, or multi‑product global companies.
Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Netsuite, Oracle, Cognos
