The Role:
The Revenue Recognition Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of revenue accounting in accordance with ASC 606. This role serves as the company’s subject‑matter expert on technical revenue guidance and partners closely with Sales, Legal, FP&A, Billing, and regional accounting teams to ensure accurate, consistent, and compliant revenue reporting across a global organization. The ideal candidate brings expertise in complex revenue arrangements, strong analytical skills, and the ability to streamline and improve revenue processes in a fast‑paced, multinational environment.
The Accounting Manager will:
Revenue Accounting & Compliance
- •Interpret and apply ASC 606 to complex, multi‑element arrangements, subscription models, variable consideration, and contract modifications.
- •Review and approve revenue treatment for customer contracts, ensuring accurate timing and classification of revenue.
- •Maintain and update revenue policies to reflect business changes, new products, and evolving accounting standards.
- •Prepare and review revenue recognition technical memoranda and documentation.
Operational Excellence & Close Management
- •Lead the revenue close process, including reviewing journal entries, deferred revenue analysis, and reconciliations
- •Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvement to shorten close timelines.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
- •Work closely with Sales and Legal teams to review terms before contract execution and guide deal structuring decisions.
- •Collaborate with FP&A to ensure accurate forecasting of revenue and deferred balances.
- •Provide global revenue accounting guidance to regional accounting teams to ensure consistency across geographies.
- •Partner with Product, Engineering, and Pricing teams to assess revenue implications of new offerings.
Internal Controls, SOX, and Audit Readiness
- •Own and execute key SOX controls related to revenue recognition.
- •Prepare audit documentation and coordinate with external auditors during quarterly and annual audits.
- •Strengthen the company’s control environment by ensuring complete, accurate, and well‑supported revenue processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5–8+ years of experience in revenue recognition, technical accounting, or audit (including 3 years of supervisory experience)
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and related technical accounting requirements.
- Experience with complex, global revenue arrangements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and lead teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Detail oriented, good judgment and logical decision-making ability with a hands-on approach
Preferred
CPA
Experience in SaaS, technology, or multi‑product global companies.
Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Oracle, Cognos
