The level of this position will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. We are open to considering candidates of varying experience levels, from early-career to experienced.

Role:

Northwood seeks a Site Infrastructure Engineer to lead the planning, deployment, and operations of ground station sites worldwide. This role combines deep technical engineering, hands-on project execution, and a strong sense of ownership. As a Site Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with and manage both internal teams and external partners to meet our ambitious timelines. You will be responsible for getting our network online and keeping it online. We are looking for a high-performing problem-solver with proven experience in delivering large-scale, fast-paced projects. This role is based on-site in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead deployments of antennas and supporting hardware to Northwood sites. Travel to sites as needed.

  • Source and acquire physical sites around the world. Demonstrate an understanding of critical business metrics (satellite talk time, etc.) with a focus on speed, cost, and simplicity to deploy hardware.

  • Design and evaluate power systems, mounting structures, rack hardware, and other network infrastructure.

  • Oversee real-time network and antenna operations, monitor system health, and engineer solutions to improve performance and reliability.

  • Build and maintain relationships with international partners, including network providers, contractors, and logistics teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, electrical, or related engineering discipline

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work comfortably across multiple engineering disciplines and collaborate with diverse teams.

  • Demonstrated success executing large projects on tight timelines.

  • Experience working in construction or facilities including HVAC, power distribution, rooftops, or networking.

  • Hands-on field experience with proficiency using basic tools.

  • Proficiency in CAD for mechanical modeling and drawing creation.

  • Knowledge of fiber network infrastructure and rack hardware.

  • Experience reviewing system telemetry in an operations environment.

  • Basic ability to code in Python, C++, or other scripting languages.

  • Experience building or using dashboards and databases (e.g., Grafana, SQL).

  • Ability to clearly communicate, track deadlines, and manage complex schedules.

  • Willingness to travel to domestic and international ground station sites as required.

  • Ability to speak and write in multiple languages.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a base-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, and technical capabilities. In addition to base salary, Northwood Space offers long term incentives such as company stock, stock options, and cash awards, as well as discretionary bonus for performance.
