Job Description

The Strategic Account Executive (SAE), Federal is a hunter role responsible for landing and expanding strategic accounts across the U.S. Federal Government, including civilian, defense, and intelligence agencies. This role is focused on both net new logo acquisition and expansion within key accounts, using insight-led, account-based strategies. The SAM will work across technical and procurement stakeholders to drive adoption of Nearmap’s aerial imagery and AI solutions, aligning value to federal missions and funded initiatives.

The Federal SAM will develop and execute a territory-specific Federal GTM strategy, aligned to procurement calendars, agency priorities, and contract vehicle access. Success in this role requires a proactive, research-driven sales approach, comfort navigating long sales cycles, and a strong understanding of the federal buying landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a Federal-focused, territory-specific strategic plan with measurable objectives - number of key targets, timetables to achieve success, etc‚
  • Identify and pursue funded programs, RFPs, RFIs, and teaming opportunities tied to Nearmap's value proposition.
  • Build account plans for major accounts that include influence matrices, org structures, and documentation of your strategy to succeed.
  • Manage Federal gov target accounts in Nearmap's CRM system, maintaining an up-to-date pipeline and logging/tracking all customer and prosect outreach and interractions.
  • Manage all of your opportunities simultaneously, while also managing pipeline development using outbound strategies, public intel, and BDR alignment
  • Execute capture plans
  • Be an active participant in team meetings.
  • Engage in conversations in team settings to solve challenges in the business.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to assist others and collaborate with the team.
  • Be respectful of others and be a good internal business partner.
  • Be open and receptive to product, industry and sales trainings.
  • Ensures customer data in SalesForce is thoroughly and carefully maintained; including but not limited to customer info, opportunity info, and details of customer interactions.
  • File accurate and timely reports on your business and necessary reporting for HR and Finance
  • Ensure all customer enquiries are dealt with quickly and effectively.
  • Complies with all local legislative requirements.
  • Adheres to company guidelines and the corporate Code of Conduct.
  • Where appropriate keeps up to date with legislative requirements.
  • Acts in an ethical way when dealing with company assets and other people.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience selling SaaS or technology solutions to U.S. federal agencies
  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding quota in federal sales
  • Experience with federal procurement mechanisms (GSA, SEWP, OTA, SBIR, etc.)
  • Extensive new business generation experience, with a track record of closing deals
  • Demonstrated strategic solution selling experience
  • Software or SaaS sales experience highly regarded
  • High competence with CRM (ideally Salesforce)
  • Strong command of MEDDPICC or other enterprise deal qualification frameworks
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with a hunger to close deals
  • Advanced knowledge of federal sales strategy, territory planning, and stakeholder mapping
  • Ability to coach and close at all levels, e.g. from subscription renewals to high value complex sales
  • In-depth knowledge of sales cycles
  • Excellent written, visual and verbal presentation skills
  • High sales drive with strong sense of accountability and ownership
  • Strong emotional intelligence
  • Tenacious, positive and energetic self-starter who is results driven
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Bachleor’s Degree in a related business discipline or equivalent business experience
