Role:

MDA is seeking an Intermediate Systems Member of Technical Staff (MTS), Satellite Missions to support system-level activities across earth observation and remote sensing satellite programs. They will independently contribute to the definition, design, integration, verification and sustainment of SAR missions, systems and payloads across multiple satellite programs and will work with a world leading team to perform system-level tradeoffs, prototype new innovations and drive technology roadmaps forward.

Responsibilities:

As an Intermediate Systems MTS, Satellite Missions you may have a wide range of responsibilities that may include:

  • Lead requirements development, traceability, and system-level design activities
  • Translate mission-level requirements into subsystem specifications
  • Perform system trade studies and mission analyses (link budgets, delta-v, coverage, etc.)
  • Review spacecraft, subsystem designs and ground segment designs to ensure compliance to requirements
  • Support subcontractor technical reviews and interface management
  • Develop and validate mission operations concepts, procedures, and tools
  • Lead portions of system verification and validation campaigns
  • Participate in and lead portions of Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT)
  • Participate in LEOP, commissioning, and transition to routine operations
  • Contribute to project planning, cost estimates, and technical risk management

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics or Applied Mathematics
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience in space systems or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience performing system engineering analyses and trade studies
  • Experience working across subsystem teams and managing technical interfaces
  • Proficiency with tools such as Matlab, Python, Excel, and STK (or equivalent)
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Windchill) and system lifecycle processes
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and guide junior engineers
  • Familiarity with satellite missions, orbital mechanics, or space system operations

Comments/Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $82,000 to $98,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
