Role:
MDA is seeking a Junior Systems Member of Technical Staff (MTS), Spacecraft Electrical to support system-level engineering activities across earth observation and remote sensing satellite programs. Working as part of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to the specification, analysis, integration, and verification of spacecraft electrical systems, including power systems, communications/RF systems, payload electrical interfaces, and EMC/EMI considerations. You will work under the guidance of intermediate and senior engineers, gaining experience in system-level engineering while contributing to the successful delivery of end-to-end satellite missions.
Responsibilities:
As a Junior Systems MTS, Spacecraft Electrical you may have a wide range of responsibilities that may include:
- Supporting the development and maintenance of electrical requirements from mission level down to subsystem level (bus, payload, ground segment, launch, etc.)
- Assisting with mission analyses including power budgets, link budgets, and EMC/EMI analyses
- Supporting development and maintenance of interface control documents (ICDs) across mission segments
- Contributing to verification planning including development of test matrices and requirements
- Reviewing subcontractor design documentation for compliance to requirements with guidance from senior engineers
- Assisting in development of Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) procedures and supporting execution activities
- Participating in test campaigns including data review, anomaly tracking, and troubleshooting support
- Participating in spacecraft validation, commissioning, and early operations activities
- Supporting engineering documentation, planning, and cost estimation activities
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related discipline
- Familiarity with spacecraft electrical systems including power systems, communications/RF systems, and payload electronics
- Exposure to RF systems, radar systems, or antenna concepts is an asset
- Familiarity with engineering analysis tools such as Matlab, Python, or similar
- Experience using MS Excel for engineering analysis
- Familiarity with lab/test equipment such as oscilloscopes or spectrum analyzers is an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment under guidance from experienced engineers

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $72,000 to 82,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
