The Role:

As Subcontract Manager, you will develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives, delivering technology into space robotics programs through domestic and international supply chain partners.

Job Responsibilities:

In this role, you will establish ownership of the overall subcontracting effort and support all phases of subsystem procurement activities, including:

  • Manage all activities related to subcontracts including the development of product centric supply base requirements and strategies
  • Lead integrated product team to manage subcontractors through the subcontract life cycle, from requirements definition, RFQ process, to acceptance to in-service support:
  • Primary interface between MDA and the Subcontractor
  • Develop vendor SWOT assessments; maintain a view of supplier capabilities and capacities.
  • Work with the subcontractor to maintain SOW obligations.
  • Work with the subcontractors to support Quality Assurance process and capability audits.
  • Working with the Contracts team to manage any change to the technical, schedule, or cost baseline
  • Develop and implement subcontracting strategies that align with the company’s goals and project requirements
  • Manage and accountable for subcontractor schedules, and mitigate issues to ensure subcontractor progress and performance aligns with the program requirements and milestones
  • Working collaboratively with the Contracts team to lead all subcontract negotiations
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports on subcontractor performance and budget adherence
  • Facilitate formal reviews and witness formal acceptance tests when applicable
  • Manage the supplier onboarding and qualification process, and ensuring alignment with compliance requirements, MDA processes and Customer flow downs
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with Quality Assurance, Finance, Project Planning and Control, Contracts, Engineering and Manufacturing and New Business
  • Demonstrate leadership across the organization; promoting common core values

Job Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum 8-10 years Subcontract Management and/or Program Management experience, with proven ability to manage complex subcontracts from inception to completion.
  • Experience in design and development of space flight, military or other safety/mission-critical or complex development hardware and/or software
  • A University degree in Business, Engineering, Applied Science, Science, or other field from an accredited institution &/or significant professional experience in the Subcontract management field.
  • Strong knowledge of program management best practices (ie. Program Management Body of Knowledge PMBOK) along with experience with MS Project, earned value methodology, negotiations, risk management, contract management, subcontract management, financials and CGP / ITAR regulations.
  • Awareness of import/ export legislation, Incoterms and customs rules is an asset.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, persuasive yet diplomatic.
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Team player demonstrating a high level of integrity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Conflict management skills in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to cope with significant workload peaks
  • Able to work under pressure to meet time critical deadlines.
  • Able to work within a large organization and understand dependencies and stakeholder needs.
  • Experience with government space agency programs considered an asset
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Bilingualism would be an asset; however, not a requirement

Comments/Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.

The compensation range for this position is $110,000-132,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
