We are hiring a Manager for Direct Access Support Engineers, to join our team in Longmont, CO.

Your Project: In this role, you will help direct the operational mission and team members in support of International Defense and Intelligence customers through the Direct Access Program. You will preserve the spacecraft and ground systems, ensure existing and potential satellite tasking requirements are met, generating revenue in the form of imagery and ancillary data for Maxar Intelligence's internal and external customers Service Level Agreements.

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):

  • Manage an integrated ground and planning team of five or more engineers in support of Maxar Intelligence satellite constellation and ground infrastructure along with other support teams as directed by management.

  • Direct the team responsible for mission success and system performance necessary to meet customer requirements in a 24/7 environment.

  • Draft, validate, support and enforce operational procedures and completion of required trainings.

  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness of all planning and operations activities for Direct Access Facilities.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with various support teams such as spacecraft and operations engineering, Direct Access & Remote Systems engineers and management, training, production, IT and planning teams.

  • Provide support for Commercial and Defense Intelligence Direct Access Facility contracts and ensuring terms and conditions are supportable by the ground system architecture.

  • Daily coordination with Maxar operations and engineering leadership and regional collection planning teams.

  • Provide effective communication with team members, cross-departmental staff and leaders regarding operational status, customer satisfaction, and incident management of business impacts and resolution.

  • Communicate with external customers regarding operational capabilities to include mission status, planned and unplanned maintenance activities, the impacts of the activities, and the mitigations in place to minimize the impacts.

  • Interview, train, evaluate, coach, support career development and corrective actions and preventative solutions for team members.

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a current / active Secret security clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Operations Management or Technical Project Management

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshooting technical issues

  • Ability to accommodate 24/7 rotational shift workers and support outside of regular shifts, as required

These skills would be amazing:

  • 4+ years of leadership experience

  • Experience with aerospace and/or satellite ground systems

  • Troubleshooting experience for AWS-based systems

  • Ability to engage with crew members and adjacent teams; previous experience in customer facing roles

  • Must possess/demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Calm disposition in stressful situations

  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux environments

  • Proficiency in understanding and modifying XML and JSON as well as scripting in Python and Ruby

  • Ability to support time-sensitive requirements

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to multi-task, results driven, strong sense of ownership and urgency

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$90,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually.
