Maxar Space Systems is currently seeking an engineering student to join our 2024 summer intern program in Palo Alto, CA. The GNC Engineering team are the pilots and navigators of the spacecraft, designing state of the art attitude control systems, and performing mission analysis and orbit raising planning to meet spacecraft missions. As part of the GNC Team, you will be part of an team or engineers working to put satellites in orbit around the earth and moon.

This is a requisition for summer of 2024 intern positions with involvement in the design, integration, and test of space systems.

Our 12-week internship program provides students with hands-on experience in a variety of disciplines. From spacecraft design to robotics to data science, Maxar offers opportunities to gain valuable skills and mentorship by working with cutting-edge technologies and industry-leading experts on real missions. In addition to competitive hourly pay, we provide cross-functional lunch-and-learn sessions, networking opportunities, social events and an executive speaker series.

Minimum requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with completion of 2 years or more, or currently enrolled in a master's degree program in aerospace, software or controls engineering, mathematics, physics, or related discipline
  • MATLAB experience

These skills would be amazing:

  • SIMULINK experience
  • Familiar with GitLab
  • Project or internship experience in guidance, navigation & control systems
  • Good communication skills with the ability to articulate technical issues to peers and management
  • Ability to work as part of a team of engineers on a project
  • Interest in aerospace, controls engineering, orbit analysis, dynamics

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$26.00 - $26.00 hourly.
