Pear VC

Pear VC is an early stage venture firm based in Menlo Park, with offices in San Francisco and Barcelona. We’re specialists in pre-seed and seed and partner with founders at the earliest stages to turn great ideas into category-defining companies.

Our team is composed of a deep bench of experts and operators. We’ve founded 10+ companies and seeded startups now worth over $50B. We have a team with operational experience across recruiting, sales, and marketing to help our founders build companies from the ground up. Our track record is strong: in just 9 years, we have seeded 7 companies currently valued over $1B (including Branch Metrics, Gusto, Aurora Solar, and Viz.ai) and 3 public companies (DoorDash, Guardant Health, and Senti Bio).

The Opportunity:

Pear is a fund specializing in pre-seed and seed investments across a number of sectors and industries. Pear leverages software tools to help manage internal and external products that help entrepreneurs and the pear investment team. These products span front-end and back-end development as well as leveraging the latest open source and closed source technologies to build effective solutions. This role will require in-office collaboration 3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

• Help build and improve Pear’s internal tools to support founders and the investment team

• Build tools and datasets to enable unique Pear Programs such as Garage, PearX, Builders and more

• Architect scalable systems for thousands of concurrent users

• Make tradeoffs across vendors, open source and custom built software to accomplish goals quickly

• Demonstrate strong online research skills.

Attributes and Skills:

• Knowledge of Web Frameworks, Databases and APIs

• Strong programming skills and experience developing products from 0 to 1

• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects with strong attention to detail.

• Independent worker with the ability to lead and motivate cross-functionally.

• Collaborative team player ready to assist anywhere, anytime.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of Software Engineering experience building Web Applications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

• Knowledge of AWS tools and platforms such as ECS, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch is a plus

• Familiarity with VC or start-up culture is a plus.
