Velocity Bio is on a mission to develop cutting-edge, high-throughput assays to discover small-molecule drugs targeting under-drugged human enzymes. We are a pre-seed, VC-funded startup spun out of Stanford University, aiming to harness the power of allostery with our innovative microfluidic platforms.
Your Impact
Velocity Bio is searching for an exceptional scientist with the highest levels of motivation to join us as a Research Scientist, offering significant growth opportunities. You will work closely with the founding team to develop novel high-throughput, quantitative biochemical assays using our state-of-the-art microfluidic platform. This interdisciplinary role involves extensive wet-bench biochemistry, in vitro microfluidic assays, and a range of protein biophysical measurements involving small molecule interactions.
Your Responsibilities
Leverage our microfluidic platform to perform high-throughput biophysical measurements
Plan, perform, and analyze in vitro protein assays
Develop new high-throughput quantitative biochemical assays
Perform a variety of common molecular biology techniques (cloning, DNA isolation, etc.)
Work closely with the founding team to develop corporate roadmaps
What we're looking for
Required Qualifications
PhD in life science (e.g., Biophysics, Biochemistry, Structural Biology)
Exceptional proficiency with protein biophysical characterization
Expertise in recombinant protein expression and purification
Expertise in basic molecular biology, including construct design and cloning
Expertise with common biophysical assays for proteins and small molecules including SPR and FP
Exceptional organization and diligence
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with mammalian protein expression systems
Experience with enzyme activity assays
Programming experience in Python
Highly organized, excellent attention to detail, self-directed learner
