The Lead Asset and Configuration Management Specialist owns Lytx's global IT asset management program, covering the full lifecycle of hardware and software assets, and is accountable for establishing and maintaining a healthy enterprise CMDB. This lead role reports to the Manager, Global Digital Workplace and drives cross-functional alignment with Infrastructure, Security, Finance, and other business units to ensure every asset and configuration item is accurate, compliant, and actionable. The role carries enterprise-wide scope including ownership of asset and configuration management controls required under ISO and SOC2 frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the enterprise lead for all IT asset and configuration management activities, setting direction, standards, and priorities across the global program.
- Manage the end-to-end hardware asset lifecycle across all Lytx locations, including procurement, tagging, deployment, refresh, and secure disposal.
- Maintain accurate software license inventories and perform regular reconciliation to ensure compliance with vendor entitlements.
- Evaluate, select, and implement an enterprise CMDB platform, then own its ongoing governance, CI class definitions, discovery integrations, and data quality.
- Work with business units to onboard new CI types and extend CMDB coverage to cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
- Own asset and configuration management controls required under ISO 27001 and SOC2 frameworks, ensuring evidence is current and audit-ready at all times.
- Support Change, Incident, and Problem Management processes by ensuring CMDB data is accurate and current.
- Conduct regular hardware and software audits to reconcile inventory and address compliance gaps.
- Partner with Procurement and Finance on purchase orders, license renewals, and technology spend forecasting.
- Develop and enforce ITAM policies and procedures aligned with ITIL best practices and internal governance requirements.
- Produce CMDB health reports and asset management dashboards for IT leadership on a regular cadence.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in IT Asset Management covering hardware (HAM) and software (SAM) in an enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead an enterprise-wide ITAM program, including setting direction, defining standards, and influencing stakeholders across multiple business units.
- Hands-on CMDB experience building, governing, and maintaining CI data quality in a production environment.
- Experience with discovery tooling (ServiceNow Discovery, Lansweeper, or similar).
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 and SOC2 compliance requirements as they relate to asset and configuration management controls.
- Proficiency with a leading ITSM/ITAM platform; experience with Zendesk, ServiceNow, or similar platforms considered. Ability to evaluate and onboard new tooling where no platform is yet established.
- Solid understanding of ITIL Asset Management and Configuration Management practices.
- Experience managing software license compliance across enterprise applications and SaaS platforms.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate asset data and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Comfortable with flexible working hours to ensure regular overlap with teams based in San Diego (Pacific Time); some early morning or evening availability will be required.
Preferred Skills
- ITIL Foundation certification, or IAITAM certifications (CHAMP, CSAM, or CITAM).
- Familiarity with endpoint management platforms such as Intune or Jamf.
- Exposure to cloud asset management across Azure, AWS, or Google Workspace.
