About the Role

Lytx is looking for a skilled BI Engineer II to join our Enterprise Systems team. In this role, you will lead the migration of our existing Tableau environment to Microsoft Power BI — and then own, expand, and continuously improve our Power BI platform going forward. You will bring deep Power BI expertise and hands-on Tableau experience to deliver intuitive dashboards, scalable data models, and self-service reporting capabilities that support Lytx's mission of protecting a world in motion.

What You'll Do

Tableau to Power BI Migration

  • Lead the end-to-end migration of Lytx's Tableau workbooks, dashboards, and data sources to Power BI, including discovery, assessment, prioritization, and execution.
  • Audit existing Tableau content to document business logic, calculated fields, data connections, and user permissions — and faithfully reproduce or improve them in Power BI.
  • Define and manage a migration roadmap in collaboration with business stakeholders and the Enterprise Systems team, balancing speed with quality.
  • Develop migration standards and reusable templates to accelerate the transition and ensure consistency across all converted reports.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) with report owners to validate that migrated Power BI reports meet or exceed the functionality of their Tableau counterparts.
  • Decommission Tableau workbooks and Tableau Server resources as migration milestones are reached, working with IT to manage license and infrastructure wind-down.

Power BI Platform Ownership

  • Design and develop Power BI reports, dashboards, and datasets for ongoing business needs across Finance, Sales, Operations, and Customer Success.
  • Build and maintain semantic models, DAX measures, and calculated columns to support accurate, performant reporting at enterprise scale.
  • Partner with data engineers to define and consume data from sources including NetSuite, Salesforce, Redshift, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Establish and enforce Power BI governance standards, including workspace management, row-level security (RLS), sensitivity labels, and deployment pipelines.
  • Support self-service BI adoption by building documentation, training materials, and reusable templates for business users transitioning from Tableau.
  • Monitor report performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and data models for speed and reliability.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies as a contributing member of the Enterprise Systems team.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • 3+ years of experience building enterprise BI solutions, with at least 2 years focused on Power BI (Desktop, Service, and Embedded).
  • Proven experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Online at an intermediate or advanced level — you know Tableau well enough to translate it fluently into Power BI.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to a Tableau-to-Power BI migration, including workbook conversion, data model mapping, and stakeholder change management.
  • Strong proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M language) for data transformation and business logic.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts including star schemas, snowflake schemas, and slowly changing dimensions.
  • Experience connecting Power BI to enterprise data sources such as Azure Synapse, SQL Server, Redshift, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with Power BI governance: workspace management, sensitivity labels, deployment pipelines, and access controls.
  • Strong communication and project management skills — you can drive a cross-functional migration effort and keep stakeholders aligned throughout.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Databricks.
  • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) or equivalent certification.
  • Tableau Desktop Specialist or Tableau Certified Data Analyst certification.
  • Experience with Copilot features for Power BI or other AI-assisted analytics tools

Tools & Technologies

  • BI & Visualization: Power BI (Desktop, Service, Report Builder), Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server

  • Integration: Boomi, REST APIs, OData
