Role Overview
The Technical Project Manager (TPM) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex technical projects across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders. This role bridges the gap between business objectives and technical execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality.
The TPM works closely with Engineering, Product, Operations, and external partners to manage dependencies, risks, and execution across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of technical projects from initiation through release
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, and execution trackers
- Drive day‑to‑day execution, ensuring progress against scope, schedule, and quality goals
- Manage project scope changes, trade‑offs, and prioritization in alignment with business objectives
Technical Coordination
- Partner closely with engineering teams to understand system design, dependencies, and technical constraints
- Coordinate work across multiple technical teams (software, hardware, infrastructure, QA, operations)
- Track and manage cross‑team dependencies and integration points
- Ensure technical readiness across development, testing, deployment, and support
Risk & Issue Management
- Proactively identify technical, operational, and delivery risks
- Drive mitigation plans and escalate issues with clear options and recommendations
- Ensure blockers are resolved quickly through effective coordination and decision‑making
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project status and execution health
- Provide clear, concise, and data‑driven status updates to stakeholders and leadership
- Align stakeholders on timelines, risks, dependencies, and delivery expectations
- Facilitate effective project reviews, retrospectives, and post‑launch assessments
Process & Delivery Excellence
- Apply Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid delivery methodologies as appropriate
- Improve project execution rigor, predictability, and transparency
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project management practices and tools
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 6+ years of experience in Technical Project Management, Engineering Program Management, or related roles
- Proven track record delivering cross‑functional technical projects
- Experience working directly with engineering and technical teams
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and system integration
- Ability to understand technical concepts, architectures, and trade‑offs
- Experience managing projects involving APIs, platforms, or complex systems
- Familiarity with Agile and traditional project management methodologies
- Prior technical background (software engineering, systems, or infrastructure)
- Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps, or distributed systems
- Experience working in scaled or matrixed organizations
