Job Description: Senior Scrum Master
Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Scrum Master to lead and coach one or more cross-functional Agile teams in delivering high-quality outcomes with predictability and speed. You will be responsible for strengthening Agile maturity, enabling continuous improvement, removing impediments, and partnering with Product Owners, Engineering, and business stakeholders to maximize value delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Leadership & Team Enablement
- Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more teams, ensuring effective adoption of Scrum (or hybrid Agile) practices.
- Coach the team(s) on Agile values, principles, and best practices to build high-performing, self-organizing teams.
- Facilitate all key Scrum ceremonies:
- Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, Backlog Refinement (as needed)
- Help teams define and continuously improve Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD).
- Foster a culture of transparency, inspection, and adaptation.
Delivery & Execution Excellence
- Partner with Product Owners to ensure the backlog is refined, prioritized, and aligned to outcomes.
- Identify, track, and remove impediments across technology, process, and organizational boundaries.
- Drive predictable delivery using empirical metrics (e.g., throughput, cycle time, lead time, predictability, quality).
- Enable effective dependency management across teams and stakeholders.
- Promote engineering excellence and quality practices (e.g., CI/CD readiness, testing discipline, automation mindset).
Continuous Improvement & Change Management
- Facilitate retrospectives that result in measurable improvements and follow-through.
- Coach stakeholders and leaders on Agile ways of working and organizational adoption challenges.
- Support scaling practices (e.g., Scrum of Scrums, PI Planning in SAFe, cross-team synchronization) when applicable.
- Promote a sustainable pace and team well-being.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as a servant leader and trusted advisor to Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations.
- Communicate clearly on progress, risks, dependencies, and mitigations.
- Help stakeholders understand and use Agile metrics responsibly (focus on outcomes over output).
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in Agile delivery roles, with 4+ years as a Scrum Master for software/product teams.
- Strong knowledge of Scrum framework and practical Agile delivery in real-world environments.
- Proven experience coaching teams and leaders to improve Agile maturity and execution.
- Experience facilitating across distributed teams and multiple stakeholder groups.
- Proficiency with tools such as Jira/Confluence, Azure DevOps, Miro, Microsoft suite, Smartsheet etc.
- Strong facilitation, communication, conflict resolution, and influencing skills.
- Ability to balance servant leadership with delivery accountability.

Certifications (Preferred)
- CSM / PSM I/II
- SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or equivalent (if operating in scaled environments)
- PMI-ACP or equivalent Agile certification
- cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) and AI certifications are a plus
Nice-to-Have
- Experience supporting teams building or integrating:
- AI/ML models, Generative AI features, or AI-driven automation, AI platforms
- Understanding of AI delivery approaches:
- Experimentation, hypothesis-driven development, rapid prototyping, iterative model improvement
- Data dependencies (data readiness, labeling, data quality, privacy)
- Awareness of AI governance considerations and Familiarity with GenAI concepts and Ability to help teams manage AI-specific risks.
