Why Lytx
We are looking for a highly motivated test engineer to come join our excellent team of quality professionals! We are seeking a detail-oriented Test Engineer with a strong background to validate our ARM-based embedded platform (like Raspberry Pi). You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our system, which integrates internal/external cameras, battery management, GPIOs, sensors, cellular communication, Wi-Fi, and MQTT protocols. This role requires hands-on manual testing, log analysis, and scripting to automate repetitive checks.

Key Responsibilities:

• BS Electronics Engineering/Computer Science with at least 6 years’ experience
• Drive the end-to-end manual and automated validation of firmware on complex ARM-based platforms, ensuring seamless system integration.
• Design comprehensive test strategies for high-speed interfaces and protocols, including cameras, sensors, GPIOs, cellular/Wi-Fi stacks, and MQTT messaging.
• Perform deep-system validation and log forensics debugging, using Linux CLI tools to identify memory leaks, race conditions, or kernel-level instabilities.
• Architect and scale robust test automation frameworks using Python and Bash to accelerate data validation and regression cycles.
• Partner with hardware and software engineering leads to influence design-for-testability (DFT) and ensure rapid bug resolution.
• Oversee and optimize CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Git) to automate firmware deployment, test execution, and real-time reporting.

What You’ll Need

• BS/MS in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 6+ years of hands-on experience.
• Expert-level experience in testing Linux-based embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Proficiency in Linux command line (SSH, mounting, log parsing).
• Proficiency with hardware instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and programmable power supplies to validate battery-powered IoT devices.
• Advanced knowledge of vehicle bus protocols (OBD-II, J1939, CAN bus) and network traffic analysis using Wireshark.
• Deep familiarity with ARM-based architecture and low-level peripheral communication (I2C, SPI, UART, USB).
• Proven track record of building automated test environments from scratch using Selenium, PyTest, or custom-built Python frameworks.

• Expert Root Cause Analysis: Leads complex troubleshooting efforts, correlating hardware signals with software logs to resolve intermittent or "hard-to-reproduce" firmware bugs.
• Methodology Leadership: Champions Agile and DevOps best practices, mentoring junior engineers on continuous integration and efficient sprint planning.
• Quality Advocacy: Acts as the primary advocate for end-user reliability, ensuring the product maintains high performance and stability in diverse field conditions.
• Global Collaboration & Mentorship: Exceptional communicator capable of leading technical discussions across diverse teams and coordinating global support in US time zones.
