Description
As a facilities technician, you will be part of a team responsible for maintaining all facilities across our El Segundo and Port of Long Beach campuses. We are looking for a facility technician who will enjoy solving problems on their own and taking ownership of projects, who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and share our passion for building out infrastructure to support our company’s goals. This is a role that contributes to every mission and every flight we fly as we continue to reimagine the future of missile defense systems.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Long Wall employees to maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas that can function efficiently, and effectively.
- Participate with in the facilities team to support maintenance, infrastructure upgrades and preventative maintenance throughout all buildings including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical repairs, exterior property maintenance of grounds in accordance with safety and environmental protocols.
- Diagnose issues with building systems and equipment, identifying the root cause of problems and implementing effective solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Evaluate campus through inspections as assigned; identify and recommend areas for repair and upgrade.
- Operate and deliver complete and on time work that has been assigned through our mobile CMMS software.
- Support external vendors and contractors while onsite for larger scale projects.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, such as power outages, leaks, or equipment failures, and take appropriate measures to mitigate risks and minimize damage to property or personnel.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance and repair
- 1-2 years of experience AND specialized training, direct work experience, or certification in one or more of the following disciplines focusing on repair, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting:
- - HVAC systems, air compressor systems
- - Tool repair
- - Machine maintenance
- - Carpentry
- - Electrical plumbing or construction.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience operating a scissor lift, forklift or other material handling motorized vehicles and equipment.
- Hands-on experience in hardware, materials and tooling required to complete facilities work.
- Ability to work within a team being respectful, collaborative, and reliable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with working across multiple teams.
- Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Experience working in Aerospace industry, engineering or construction sectors or a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Familiarity with PPE and OSHA safety requirements.
- Ability to work long hours and weekends as assigned.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Effective communication (written, verbal)
- Ability to problem solve, self-manage, make common-sense driven decisions, attention to detail, strong work ethic and ownership of task.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, squat, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to occasionally ascend/descend on ladders and/or work on rooftops.
- Ability lift 50lbs repeatedly and often throughout the day.
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence.
- Can work in Indoor manufacturing environment 70%, outdoors 30%
- Travel between our El Segundo (50%) and Port of Long Beach (50%) facilities as required. Occasional travel to our other instate and out of state sites may be required.
ITAR Requirement
This position requires access to information protected under US export control laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations. As such, US person status (including US citizens, U.S. permanent residents, individuals granted U.S. asylum status, or individuals admitted in U.S. refugee status) is a required qualification for this position.
