Senior Accountant
$110,000 - 120,000 annualized salary (plus benefits) for a part-time 30-hour/week schedule during standard business hours. This is a part-time, fixed-term position for an initial 3-month engagement, with potential for extension or longer-term opportunities based on business needs and mutual fit.
Logos Space is developing a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite system purpose-built to serve the connectivity needs of the commercial enterprise and government users. We will help fill an important gap in the market, providing resilient, high-performance satellite-based connectivity services to enterprise and government customers worldwide. Business customers have contracts with agreed-upon performance standards for their broadband, and Logos will build these capabilities into the system from the beginning. Speed and reliability are the foundation of the system. Logos is designed to extend cloud and data center network connectivity anywhere in the world to fixed, seaborne, and airborne terminals Logos is led by a team of highly experienced engineers with proven track records in the networking and satellite industries.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Controller and take ownership of several functions in the accounting department such as Accounts Payable, Prepaid Expenses, Fixed Assets, and Accruals. This is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the full accounting cycle, assisting with technical accounting reviews, recording transactions, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with period-close activities and financial statement preparation.
As our accounting team grows, we are looking for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is prepared to take on increasing responsibilities and complex tasks. This role is vital to ensuring the overall financial health and integrity of our systems as we continue to scale.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Support & Transition
Support the implementation, configuration, and data migration from QuickBooks to a new ERP system.
Develop and map the Chart of Accounts and perform data integrity audits during the system transition.
Assist with the design and implementation of process automations and advanced reporting workflows within the new ERP system environment.
Advanced Accounting Functions
Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the full-cycle Accounts Payable operations, ensuring proper coding for complex aerospace R&D projects, and managing vendor relations.
Technical Journal Entries: Prepare and review monthly journal entries, focusing on high-level areas such as intangible asset amortization, and depreciation of fixed assets and R&D equipment.
Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Lead the preparation and review of comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving complex variances.
Tax Schedules Preparation: Prepare tax schedules for tax filings for multiple jurisdictions.
Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements, including cash flow statements and management reports.
Audit & Compliance Management: Prepare audit schedules and partner with the Controller on external auditors’ requests, and ensure all PBC (Prepared by Client) lists are fulfilled.
Basic Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
MBA, CPA, or CPA candidate preferred but not required
Experience
7+ years of professional accounting experience, with significant experience in an accounting role within a startup or technology environment.
Software Expertise: Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, Google Workspace, and proficiency in QuickBooks is required; direct experience with ERP transitions is a significant plus.
Deep knowledge of GAAP and experience with external financial audits.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a part-time capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong alignment with the space industry, cybersecurity, or aerospace innovation.
