Logos Space is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite system purpose-built to serve the connectivity needs of the commercial enterprise users and government users. We will help fill an important gap in the market, providing resilient, high-performance satellite-based connectivity services to enterprise and government customers worldwide. Business customers have contracts with agreed-upon performance standards for their broadband, and Logos will build these capabilities into the system from the beginning. Speed and reliability are the foundation of the system. Logos is designed to extend cloud and data center network connectivity anywhere in the world to fixed, seaborne, and airborne terminals.

Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineering team at Logos Space work on design, development, flight validation, assembly, integration, test, and inflight success of the logos fleet of spacecraft. The Mechanical Design Engineers will support both bus and payload hardware development from the idea stage to flight. This role will work closely with Structures, Thermal, Electrical, and RF Engineers to develop components and assemblies that meet high system performance standards and can be built at scale.

You should be prepared to work and thrive in a fast moving environment where you are comfortable taking vague requirements and direction and executing on the Logos product mission. We are seeking people who love to solve hard problems, have a bias for action and extreme task ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Own payload component design from concept thru fabrication and test

  • Own and Develop mechanical requirements and communicate these requirements to cross functional team members to drive system development forward

  • Perform initial structural and thermal sizing of components

  • Rapidly iterate on designs by getting your hands dirty and putting hardware in the loop to converge on solutions and bring things from paper to rate production

  • Generate Design Data, Fabrication, and Production Drawings using GD&T to communicate design intent of all your components and ensure they are low cost and manufacturable as scale

  • Drive tolerancing and statistical analysis into designs to meet production goals

  • Handle manufacturing issues and work with vendors and internal stakeholders to disposition components on the floor

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.

  • 4+ Experience working in aerospace, satellite, automotive, or telecom production environment

  • Experience designing enclosures and/or thermal solutions for high power electronics, high speed electronics, RF electronics, or telecom components

  • Experience working with high volume contract manufacturers

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills - We are looking for leaders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience owning all aspects of electromechanical unit level development (design, thermal, structural, assembly, and test)

  • Experience doing unit level structural sizing and designing electronics to survive harsh environments

  • Experience doing unit level thermal design and designing electronics cooling solutions to survive harsh environments

  • Experience designing PCBAs and troubleshooting PCBA fabrication issues

  • Proficient knowledge and experience using GD&T (ASME Y14.5)

  • Experience designing and building electromechanical mechanisms
