KSAT seeks Communications Engineering Lead – KSAT Hyper

About KSAT Hyper

KSAT (Kongsberg Satellite Services) is developing KSAT Hyper, a next-generation low-latency connectivity service enabling rapid access to mission-critical data from orbit. KSAT Hyper combines advanced networking, inter-satellite communications, and real-time data delivery to meet the demands of modern space operations.

We are now hiring a Communications Engineering Lead to own the architecture, development, and integration of the communication systems that power this innovative platform.

Your Role

• Lead the design and development of KSAT Hyper’s communications architecture, including RF, SDR/modems, and networking solutions.
• Define system-level architectures for routing, link management, and waveform strategies to enable low-latency, high-reliability data delivery.
• Act as the primary technical interface to customers regarding communications interoperability, link performance, and system integration.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Engineering, technical teams, and external vendors to ensure seamless system integration.
• Own the selection and development of SDR platforms, modems, and routers.
• Ensuring technical leadership.
• Stay at the forefront of communications technology, including networking protocols, advanced waveform design, and optical communications solutions.

Key Focus Areas

• Design and optimization of RF and optical ISLs for networking
• Development and integration of onboard SDRs, modems, and routers
• Waveform definition, management, and optimization for the links
• Routing strategies and network protocol integration
• Customer-facing communications system support, ensuring interoperability and performance alignment
• Support for test campaigns, demonstrations, and system validation

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in communications systems engineering
• Strong expertise in RF and/or optical communication link design, link budgets, and waveform development
• Hands-on experience with SDR and modem platforms, including waveform integration and testing
• Familiarity with inter-satellite link technologies, optical terminals, networking protocols (e.g., CCSDS, DTN)
• Proven ability to work directly with customers and partners to define requirements and deliver solutions
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related technical field
