As a Data Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, SDKs, and data governance tooling within the Data Platform Tribe. You will focus on automating data workflows, developing robust observability frameworks, and creating reusable libraries and pipeline templates that empower business teams to build and operate their own data pipelines efficiently. In this role, you will also contribute to the implementation of enterprise-wide data governance capabilities, enabling high-quality, reliable, and well-governed data across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain SDKs and reusable libraries to support scalable and efficient data pipelines.
- Evaluate, test, and implement data governance tools, including data catalogs, analyst enablement tools, and related platforms.
- Automate the integration and deployment of data governance and platform tools across the broader Kpler Cloud platform.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers through pair programming and code reviews to promote high-quality, maintainable code.
- Take ownership of features end to end, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
Skills and Experience
- 3–5 years of professional experience in Data Engineering, DevOps, or Software Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Apache Spark and/or Kafka.
- Strong proficiency in Python for building data pipelines, SDKs, and automation.
- Solid DevOps experience, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization (e.g., Docker).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform.
- Strong command of written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative, international environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Familiarity with GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation.
- Practical experience designing and building end-to-end data pipelines.
- Understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
- Proficiency in a JVM-based language such as Scala or Java.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
