The Conventional Machinist will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in the setup, operation and care of conventional lathes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Verify your own work using Vernier’s, Micrometers and Gages
• Multi-task, take initiative, and communicate clearly with your team and management
• Experience working with hard metals is required, composite experience is a plus
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a requirement, in the aerospace industry is a plus

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• 1+ years’ experience is preferred
• Knowledge of shop mathematics complicated and involved drawings, specifications, formulas and a wide variety of precision measuring instruments together with a broad knowledge of applications.

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
