What We’re Looking For:

Iridium is seeking an Associate Director, International PNT Business Development (UK/Europe) who will be responsible for driving growth and capture of PNT-related defense programs across the UK Ministry of Defence and selected European Ministries of Defence, including Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. This role owns the business development and capture lifecycle - from early customer engagement and requirement shaping through proposal support and contract award - and works closely with industry partners and prime contractors to integrate the company’s PNT capabilities into end products and platforms. In this role, you will manage a regional contractor/consultant supporting market access and customer insight and serve as the company’s senior PNT BD interface to European MoDs, NATO stakeholders, and industry partners. Success in this role requires a blend of defense BD leadership, operational credibility from military experience, and sufficient technical depth in PNT, satellite communications, or unmanned systems to lead customer and partner engagements.

What You’ll Do:

  • Business Development and Capture Ownership
    • Own and grow the UK and European MoD PNT opportunity pipeline, from early shaping to contract award
    • Identify, qualify, and prioritize opportunities aligned with NATO modernization, resilient PNT, and contested-environment operations
    • Develop and execute capture strategies, including win themes, competitive positioning, teaming, and customer engagement plans
    • Influence customer requirements and acquisition approaches through sustained early engagement
  • UK & European MoD / NATO Engagement
    • Serve as the primary BD interface for UK MoD and European MoDs on PNT and related capabilities
    • Build trusted relationships with military operators, capability managers, program offices, and acquisition authorities
    • Represent the company at NATO forums, defense exhibitions, classified briefings, and operational demonstrations
  • Industry Partner & Ecosystem Development
    • Develop and manage strategic relationships with industry partners, including primes, platform OEMs, and system integrators
    • Drive the integration of the company’s PNT capabilities into partner end products, platforms, and systems-of-systems
    • Coordinate joint capture activities, teaming agreements, and partner solution alignment for UK and European MoD opportunities
    • Ensure partner solutions are aligned with customer operational requirements and acquisition strategies
  • Contractor & Regional Resource Management
    • Manage and direct a Europe-based contractor or consultant supporting market access, opportunity identification, and customer engagement
    • Set priorities, objectives, and performance expectations aligned to pipeline and capture goals
    • Ensure contractor activities align with company strategy, compliance requirements, and ethical standards
  • Solution Shaping & Technical Positioning
    • Leverage background in PNT, SATCOM, or UAS/drones to shape credible, mission-relevant solutions with customers and partners
    • Translate operational needs into solution concepts, CONOPS, and capability narratives suitable for integration into larger platforms
    • Coordinate with internal engineering and product teams to support partner integration efforts and platform-level solutions
  • Proposal & Capture Execution
    • Lead or significantly contribute to international proposals, including capture inputs, executive summaries, and customer strategy
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams and industry partners to deliver competitive, compliant proposals
    • Support negotiations, contract award activities, and transition from capture to program execution
  • Compliance, Security & Export Controls
    • Ensure all BD, capture, and partner activities comply with ITAR, EAR, UK/EU export controls, and company security policies
    • Operate effectively in classified and NATO-secure environments, supporting controlled technical exchanges with customers and partners

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 12+ years of experience in defense business development, capture management, or international government sales
  • Proven success shaping and winning programs with UK MoD and/or European MoDs, including partnered or teamed captures
  • Military background, preferably within a NATO or allied force
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants, or regional representatives
  • Working knowledge of PNT, satellite communications, or unmanned systems, including platform or system integration concepts
  • Experience working with defense primes, OEMs, or system integrators on multi-company programs
  • Familiarity with European defense acquisition frameworks, including UK DE&S, OCCAR, and national procurement agencies
  • Experience supporting urgent operational requirements or rapid fielding efforts (e.g., Ukraine support programs)
  • Existing relationships within UK MoD, European MoDs, NATO organizations, or defense industry partners
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and confidently recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
  • Be a strategic thinker who demonstrates good judgment and decisiveness
  • Be able to analyze a situation or problem and come up with effective solutions

We’ll also need you to:

  • Home office environment that meets company standars for remote work, including reliable high-speed internet, appropriate workspace, and ability to support confidential communications.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50%) across the UK and Europe
  • Be a citizen of a NATO member country

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
