Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities
The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 27, 2025 to August 15, 2025. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.
What We’re Looking For:
Iridium is seeking a highly motivated Software Development Engineer with a interest in Satellite Communication Technology and a drive to work in a fast paced agile environment. If this is you, Iridium has an exciting opportunity for an Software Engineering Intern to join our Gateway Development Team. In this role, you will participate in assignments, focusing on design, coding and testing key technologies in the Iridium Gateway. What You’ll Do:
- Learn about Satellite Communications and how voice and data services are supported through the Iridium Gateway
- Work with other team members in the implementation, build and verification activities and help troubleshoot issues to resolution
- Perform software development using a variety of cutting-edge tools (e.g. Jira for task management, GitLab for CI/CD, and Confluence for documentation)
- Apply software engineering best practices and processes in the development of software in the Iridium Gateway

- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution
- US Citizenship is required
