Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities
What We’re Looking For:
We're in search of a Compliance Director who will take the helm in being the primary liaison with government auditors. In this role, you'll seamlessly collaborate with all departments across Iridium, ensuring our adherence to Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and DFARs, all while maintaining compliance with stringent government regulations and internal controls.
As our Government Compliance Director, your wealth of knowledge regarding CAS, FAR, and GAAP will be put to good use. Your primary responsibilities will encompass executing and providing counsel to our leadership on compliance in line with various regulatory requirements related to business systems. Furthermore, you'll oversee and ensure the timely completion of various government submissions, thereby fostering Iridium's continued growth and development while upholding our regulatory commitments.
What You’ll Do:
- Utilize subject matter experteese to develop Government team expertise
- Drive strategy to ensure compliance with CAS, FAR and GAAP
- Interface with DCAA, DCMA and other government representatives
- Stay current on all government accounting regulations and keep the organization informed of relevant changes
- Coordinate and lead the preparation of required regulatory accounting submissions within the timeframe mandated by the Government, such as Forward Pricing Rate Proposals, Incurred Cost submissions, Disclosure Statements, cost impacts, etc.
- Respond to government audits and coordinate corrective actions as necessary
- Work with management to ensure appropriate cost structure for government business including rates, allocations, etc.
- Provide management with analytical assistance and advice in all government accounting aspects
- Develop, track and report metrics; react to metrics by identifying and solving problems and making improvements
Experience & Education Requirements / EEO
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- 12+ years experience in government accounting
- 5+ years supervising employees
- Expert in CAS, FAR and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- CPA License
- Experience negotiating FAR / CAS issues with government agencies
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and confidently recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
- Be a strategic thinker who demonstrates good judgment and decisiveness
- Be able to analyze a situation or problem and come up with effective solutions
- Can easily form relationships with executive leadership and encourage cross-functional team building
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks according to deadline and budget limitations
- Be proactive in finding new and enhanced ways of doing things and sharing your knowledge with others
We’ll also need you to:
- US Citizenship required
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
