Role Overview:
We are looking for a Release Manager who thrives in a cross-functional environment and excels at simplifying complexity through process and coordination. This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on enabling reliable, scalable release operations for ICEYE software and other mission-critical systems. You will work closely with Engineering, QA, Product Management, and Delivery teams to orchestrate and continuously improve our release process.
This role is essential to our goal of transitioning to a state where we can continuously deliver customer value through reliable, automated releases—with an increasing cadence of system delivery.
What will you do in this role?
- Release Orchestration: Schedule and coordinate ICEYE software releases across various on-premise environments. Ensure all stakeholders are aligned throughout the release cycle.
- Process Evolution & Automation: Support the automation and streamlining of release processes, making releases reliable and repeatable. Aim to make releasing "boring."
- Risk Coordination: Collaborate with senior engineering leadership to surface, document, and mitigate risks associated with each release, especially for mission-specific configurations.
- Internal Collaboration: Act as a hub between QA, Engineering, Product Management, and Delivery teams to ensure requirements are clear, blockers are resolved, and feedback is continuously looped in.
- Schedule & Configuration Control: Maintain a clear, up-to-date release calendar and manage release-specific configuration tracking.
- Metrics & Feedback: Define and track key release metrics (e.g., frequency, lead time, failure rate, rework). Use data to drive ongoing improvements.
- Documentation: Produce comprehensive internal release documentation and support the creation of customer-facing release notes in collaboration with Product Management.
What will you need to be successful in this role?
- 5+ years of experience in software delivery or release coordination roles.
- Strong experience with release planning, project tracking (e.g., JIRA), and QA integration (e.g., AllureTestOps).
- Proven ability to coordinate across diverse technical teams.
- Deep understanding of software development workflows, CI/CD, and change management principles.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with GitOps or automated deployment approaches is a plus.
- Knowledge of satellite operations and the aerospace industry are also a plus.
What do we offer?
- A job that matters in a dynamic Earth Observation environment with a scale-up approach
- An independent role with a supportive and diverse work environment
- Occupational healthcare, occupational, and accident insurance
- A yearly benefit budget to spend as you wish (i.e. on sport, transport, bike benefit, wellness, lunch, etc.)
- Phone subscription with iPhone of choice
- Relocation support (i.e. flight tickets, accommodation, relocation agency support)
- Time for self-development, research, training, conferences, or certification schemes
- Inspiring and collaborating offices and silent workspaces enable you to focus
- A wide variety of the best coffee, tea, snacks, and sweets to accompany your daily space mission
