At Hexagon, within our integrated Division Scanning & Mapping, we are seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Head of Airborne Mapping Services (AMS).

This role will shape strategy and delivery to ensure operational excellence across mapping product development, sales, marketing, partnerships, and customer success. Responsibilities include maintaining service excellence, developing and delivering innovative solutions and building strong stakeholder alignment. This executive will champion mapping services while delivering measurable business outcomes and growth.

Airborne Mapping Services encompasses airborne remote sensing data collection services and data content services. The AMS teams are based in North America and Europe and deliver services globally to government and commercial customers. AMS is deeply connected with the airborne sensor business (ABS) for mutual benefit – AMS informs sensor development and fully tests sensors/software in operational settings before ABS releases new hardware to the market. The synergies between these teams sets AMS and ABS apart from competitors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head of AMS is responsible and accountable for (but not limited to) the following:
Strategic Leadership
• Execute and operationalize the company’s strategic plan for AMS, ensuring alignment across geospatial mapping solutions, sales, and service delivery.
• Partner with the divisional president to refine corporate vision, growth priorities, and long-range business objectives.
• Identify and pursue new markets, partnerships, acquisitions, and strategic alliances within the geospatial, spatial analytics, remote sensing, and data platforms ecosystem.
• Collaborate with Head of Airborne Sensors to balance competing customer needs for overall market success.

Business Operations
• Provide full P&L ownership, including revenue growth, margin optimization, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
• Oversee operational hubs: flight operations in Canada (Montreal & Calgary), Denmark and France as well as data production centers in India (Gurugram, Bangalore) and Poland
• Ensure data content delivery systems meet customer needs for AMS data: HxDR and resellers.
• Establish and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and performance management systems to ensure operational excellence.
• Oversee AMS operations including product development, engineering, geospatial services, data operations, sales, marketing, and customer success.

Technology & Innovation
• Guide the development and commercialization of geospatial technologies, platforms, and services, including GIS, spatial analytics, remote sensing, imagery, AI/ML, and cloud-based solutions.
• Ensure product roadmaps align with market demand, customer needs, and emerging technology trends.
• Balance innovation with scalability, security, data governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Drive innovation across product lines including aerial imagery, LiDAR, 3D mapping, and AI-enabled geospatial analytics.
• Work with the CTO and R&D teams to maintain the company’s position as a leader in geospatial technology.

Sales & Marketing
• Lead business development and sales, strategic partnerships, and go-to-market strategies to expand domestic and international presence.
• Strong knowledge of government lead geospatial data projects and track record of winning tenders of significant size and scope.
• Champion the company’s brand and communicate value propositions to stakeholders and clients.

Leadership & Culture
• Lead, mentor, and develop the executive leadership team and senior managers.
• Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture that attracts and retains top technical, geospatial, and commercial talent.
• Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and strong ethical standards across the organization.

Financial Stewardship
• Work with the CFO to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Present financial and operational updates to the leadership on a regular basis.

Governance & External Representation
• Represent the company with board members, customers, industry partners, and at conferences or industry forums.
• Support corporate governance, risk management, and compliance initiatives.
• Act as a visible leader and spokesperson for the organization when appropriate.

Desired Skills

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
Critical
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in technology, geospatial, SaaS, data analytics, engineering, or related fields.
• Prior experience in a senior executive role (President, COO, GM, or equivalent) with enterprise-level operational responsibility.
• Demonstrated success scaling a technology-driven organization and managing complex, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L and driving profitable growth.

Preferred
• Deep understanding of geospatial technologies such as GIS, remote sensing, spatial analytics, imagery, LiDAR, or location-based services.
• Experience selling and delivering solutions to government, defense, infrastructure, energy, environmental, or enterprise markets.
• Track record of leading digital transformation, cloud adoption, or data platform commercialization.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to execute decisively in fast-paced, evolving markets

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to travel internationally to our internal hubs, customers, and industry events (approximately 25%)
