Hexagon Robotics is a division of Hexagon – a global leader in precision measurement. Established in 2025, Hexagon Robotics develops humanoid robots for industrial sectors to address labor shortages and enable the transition from automation to autonomy. The first humanoid product, AEON, was launched in June 2025 and combines agility, awareness, spatial intelligence and versatility to provide a market-leading solution for automotive, transportation, aerospace, manufacturing, and logistics customers.

We are looking for a Senior ML Engineer to develop advanced machine learning methods for whole-body control of humanoid robots. The role involves building scalable training pipelines, integrating learning-based solutions into real-world systems, and providing technical guidance within a cross-functional team. It offers a hands-on R&D environment focused on innovation from prototype to production.

Your Mission

  • Design and develop state-of-the-art machine learning methods for whole-body control of humanoid robots
  • Develop scalable training pipelines for reinforcement / imitation learning
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate learning-based methods into our robot software stack
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members, fostering innovation and teamwork
  • Being part of an R&D team with startup spirit in a globally active company
  • Working in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment
  • Engineering and development from prototype to innovative serial production
  • Active and hands-on development of whole-body controllers for robots, including testing and evaluation on robots
  • Team-oriented problem-solving and creative thinking to push the boundaries of cutting-edge technologies

Your Skillset

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning models, preferably within the robotics domain
  • Expertise developing and training models for robot control, using reinforcement or imitation learning
  • Experience deploying ML-based controllers on robotic hardware
  • Proficiency in machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
  • Solid programming skills in Python; experience with C++ is a plus
  • Knowledge of robotics frameworks and tools (particularly ROS2, Omniverse) and ability to work closely with other robotics teams
  • Proficiency in English required, basic German skills advantageous
