Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking a Portable Metrology Testing and Development Intern for our Williamsburg location.

The Portable Metrology Testing and Development Intern will have a dynamic role assisting in software support, testing, documentation and development of a 3D measurement software. The successful candidate should be a self-starter with an interest in metrology. He/she will have the opportunity to use a high end 3D measurement software package and its associated measurement devices, learn how the software is developed and tested, and explore how customer feedback plays a role in future software development. The position will require problem solving, extrapolating to real-world applications, independent research and clear written documentation of findings. The ultimate goal will be to assist in supporting our customers and aiding our development team.
Job Responsibilities
- Learning to perform measurement operations within our portable metrology software and using the measurement devices it supports.
- Monitoring the customer support channels and corresponding with customers to clarify their questions or concerns.
- Troubleshooting reported software problems and testing similar scenarios with available lab equipment.
- Working with application engineers and customers to develop new solutions to reported problems
- Editing documentation and creating video content to demonstrate functions within the software and to help clarify how the software is used.
- Working with the development and testing teams to verify new additions to the software and perform pre-release testing.
- Qualified candidates with prior programming experience may work directly with developers to add to the software’s capabilities.
Qualifications
- Ability to work Monday- Friday, 40 hours per week during the summer break.
- Ability to work independently, in a flexible role as needed and to problem solve.
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Candidates will interact directly with customers on the phone and through email as well as help develop training materials in written and video formats.
- The ideal candidate would be interested in and have some familiarity with 3D CAD modeling, basic computer programming, surveying and/or other measurement devices and data acquisition.
- The ideal candidate would have, or be working on, a degree in engineering or computer science.
