We're seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Last Meter team, a group of 5 talented engineers solving some of the most challenging problems in logistics optimization. In this role, you'll balance technical leadership with people management, serving as the bridge between engineering excellence and product strategy. You'll be responsible for building a high-performing team while maintaining hands-on involvement in critical technical decisions, particularly around ML systems, location intelligence, and data infrastructure.

What You'll Do:

Lead and grow a team of 5 engineers, focusing on career development, performance management, and creating a healthy, inclusive team environment.
Serve as the primary technical liaison with Product Management, translating product vision into technical roadmaps and ensuring alignment on priorities.
Responsible for team health and retention.
Maintain hands-on technical involvement in architecture decisions, code reviews, and critical implementations, particularly in ML and location-based systems.
Own team velocity and quality metrics, implementing processes and practices that enable sustainable delivery of high-quality software.
Guide technical decisions around ML model deployment, geospatial data processing, and cloud infrastructure.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
Balance technical debt management with feature delivery to maintain system health and team morale.

Who are you?

10+ years of engineering experience with 2+ years in engineering management or technical leadership roles.
Demonstrated experience with machine learning systems, either building, deploying, or managing teams working on ML applications.
Background in location services, GIS, delivery logistics, or data analysis domains, you understand the challenges of geospatial data and last-mile optimization.
Strong proficiency with data analysis and ETL tools (e.g., Python data stack, SQL, data pipeline frameworks).
Experience with agentic AI tooling (Copilot, Claude Code, Kiro, etc) and motivation/interest to grow in this area.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern deployment practices.
Proven track record of building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for reliable software delivery.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Track record of building inclusive, high-performing teams.

Preferred:

C++ client development experience, particularly in performance-critical applications.
Experience with geospatial technologies and libraries (PostGIS, mapping APIs).
Background in building real-time systems or high-throughput data processing platforms.
Familiarity with DevOps and MLOps practices and tools.
Experience in logistics, transportation, or delivery technology domains.
Previous experience scaling engineering teams in product-focused environments.
