Production Engineering Internship 2025/2026
The future of food production hinges on an important question: How do we feed the world’s growing population without compromising our natural resources? Both dairy and beef farmers feed our population and hold the keys to vital climate solutions. At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers to run the most productive and sustainable farms. Farmers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional farming. They’re growing more grass, increasing milk production and/or helping their cattle gain more weight (for beef farming) and improving the health and well-being of their cows.
We bridge deep tech into farming. Halter enables farmers to remotely shift, virtually fence and proactively monitor their cows’ health and behaviour. Can you imagine watching 500 cows or cattle walk calmly towards the milking shed or their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a mob of cows walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionising farming with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry.
People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.
About the role
As a production intern, you will support the production and supply chain team to build our collars and towers at scale. In this role, you will get exposure to scaling production quantities and mass manufacturing of cutting-edge hardware. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware and supply chain teams to solve complex problems and keep production running smoothly. We are looking for students pursuing relevant degrees in mechanical, electrical software, or engineering science and who are keen to engage with various disciplines.
This internship will run from November 17th, 2025, to February 14th, 2026. It will be full-time, 40 hours a week and there are potential opportunities to travel to our factory in Thailand.
What your day could look like
- Supporting the building, assembling and testing of prototype hardware, jigs and fixtures.
- Implementing the software to run test sequences on these fixtures
- Using test data to calculate statistical process control limits.
- Supporting production validation activities.
- Diving into production data to proactively identify low-performing production processes and material issues.
- Entering data and maintaining Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
- Writing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assembling and testing hardware.
- Writing technical specifications for custom components following instructions from hardware engineers.
- General assistance of hardware team members and other activities from time to time.
Who are we looking for?
- Someone with the right attitude. We’re looking for the deeply curious, those who are driven to learn and grow in all areas.
- Someone who is energetic and excited about what we’re driving for at Halter.
- A student who is passionate about their field of study and gets involved in extracurricular activities that are relevant to their degree.
- We want someone who is hungry, who wants to be stretched and who wants to start doing the best work of their life, right now.
- An intern at Halter is a fully-fledged member of the team and you’ll be given opportunity, ownership and responsibility like everyone else.
- If this sounds a little intense, it is. You’ll be working alongside an epic team of the best and brightest. You’ll be having an impact and you’ll be learning quickly - that’s Halter.
